Katie Hopkins was catapulted in to the public consciousness as a contestant on BBC One’s The Apprentice in 2006, competing for a £100,000 job working for Lord Alan Sugar.
She made it all the way to the business end of the series – but turned down a place in the grand final, citing a lack of childcare for her daughters.
She was known as the most outspoken contestant, and this trait has been amplified in the last few years, as she’s become a hate figure in the media for her controversial opinions.
Her career as a loudmouth begun in 2013, when she criticised names including Tyler and Chardonnay on ITV’s This Morning. She also voiced disapproval of parents choosing geographical locations as names for their kids – despite calling one of her daughters India.
Since then, she’s done the rounds giving her thoughts on everything from benefits culture to drug addiction. She sparked fury by tweeting about Scottish life expectancy figures in the wake of the Glasgow helicopter tragedy – and recently further irked the Scottish people by criticising them for sending England “Ebola bombs” when an aid worker struck with the deadly disease travelled south for treatment.
Katie has also been vocal on the ‘obesity crisis’ in the UK. Last year she gained four stone in an attempt to prove that it’s easy for fat people to lose weight, with cameras following her for a TLC documentary. My Fat Story went on to become the digital channel’s highest rating show to date.
Seven years after taking part in ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Katie has now signed up for Celebrity Big Brother – although it’s not her first time in Britain’s most famous house, as she was a ‘guinea pig’ rehearsal contestant for Channel 4’s very first civilian series in 2000.
The 39-year-old says she’s got absolutely “nothing to prove” to viewers – indeed, she looks set to be as controversial as ever, as she says she’d hate to live with “any fat person”.
“That is quite a broad spectrum. I have no empathy for a fat person,” she claimed. “I hope there might be one person in there who is funny, clever, witty, well-read or who has spent a lifetime performing on the stage.”
Katie isn’t afraid to get in to a heated debate with her fellow housemates – but she’ll be picking and choosing them wisely. “There will be people trying to get their moment of telly by annoying me, so I will swat them away,” she smiles.
“But if you get some people who actually think what they’re saying and believe it, then sure, I’ll probably go for that.”

She is extremely deluded to say she respects and loves the British public.. they are the ones that branded her ‘the most hated woman in Britain’. She hates over weight people, tattooed people, supporters of left wing politics, people who name their children certain names, vegetarians, breast feeding… the list goes on.. to say the British public are her people when she has denounced the majority of them baffles me.

I totally agree with you this pathetic woman doesn’t like anybody except herself and for her to say she loves the British public just shows how deluded she is.
And as you said her vicious views on certain topics makes you wanna give her a good slappin. And as for ch5 since they have taken over bb they have well and truly dragged it into the gutter.
I’ve watched bb & celeb bb since the beginning but while there putting people like vile vindictive arrogant stuck up witch like Katie Hopkins to give her air time to spew out her vile opinions I won’t be watching. :down: :down: :down:.

Nardia is obviously going to get her first vote but with Parez already being up she’s going to have to start laying the poison down for another HM so watch out Cheggers I think you could be in for a bit of snipping.
Trying to influence other HMs has always been part of the game but she thinks she can influence the viewers by going in the diary room and telling us that Parez said he ‘hated the British public’.
Get it right Miss H what he actually said was ‘he didn’t give a sh!t about the British public’ in response to her telling him he’d been put up for eternal nomination by ‘HER people’
I really didn’t want to like Katie H when she went in – I think that like Nadia I had formed an opinion of her, unlike Nadia – I am happy to say that I have changed my mind. I have no idea what Nadia’s real gripe is with Katie H – but sadly it has shaped her experience of BB. I think that Katie H is coping incredibly well with the constant drivel coming from Perez, and BB should play back the “chats” he is constantly talking about (to Nadia mainly) and let the whole house see how he is embellishing everything to suit his own needs. I hope that Katie H stays in – she does love the British public, and this country. Her only real fault is in trying to get her opinion across in a forceful manner – if you listen, much of what she has to say is true, and also her one liners are very funny! She was nice to Alicia – but that does not make good tv – and lets face it, if someone told you that they had only just learnt their shapes and ABC’s recently with their 3 yr old – you would also make some comment – she was looking for attention. She stuck up for Alexander, she looked after Cami, she is great friends with Calum, even Cheggars likes her company! Only Perez and Nardia have a problem – the other housemates cannot all be wrong.

No it’s not ok and I’m not trying to defend him but he certainly wasn’t trying to woo the public for votes that’s for sure.
But it still doesn’t make what Katie Hopkins said right either. If you’re going to quote someone you’ve got to make sure you get the wording right.

Love her hate her either way she is very entertaining and has gave us all something to talk about. Personaly i love her. I dont agree with her views on certain people/issues and i definately dont agree with her beef at parents calling their kids certain names, but i do agree with her “fat” comments. ‘Move more eat less’. One thing is for sure she is VERY good TV. Dont mind either Katie or Perez winning. They have made the show. No offence to the Kieth fans (he is a nice guy) but if all the house mates just sat around barely had a input we might aswel just sit at home and watch paint dry every evening!
I’m baffled how can people vote to save this woman she is vile,she doesn’t want anyone to have an opinion if it differs from hers, as much as I don’t like Perez it’s not just the Perez & Katie show gave the other housemates some air time, get Katie H out & we might see a fun house. KH is someone who is a bully, she is manipulative, rude and cannot stand any kind of competition. For her to win would be shameful!! If we endorse that kind of behaviour, what does it say about us as the British public. The way she bullied and treated Alicia is despicable and did BB do anything about it?? Oh no!! they did not. Personally, I would like Nadia to win. She has the courage and she speaks the truth. She exposes KH for her hypocrisy. She does not follow the crowd. These are all admirable qualities of a true winner!!

I don’t like the way Hopkins has influenced HM to vote for Keith and Nadia……. Did anyone see the group hug they gave themselves when Nadia was evicted???????? Shameful…….. Also why does everyone HAVE to voice an opinion???? She goes on at Keith for not having an opinion…… He has he just doesn’t want to discuss it….. Isn’t that his right?????…. When she went for Katie Price about not having an opinion she got more than she bargained for!!!!! Lol….. Does this woman have any true friends at all? She is nobody’s friend in the BB house…she’s just passing the time with them, thats all. Sorry folks my opinion of Kate Hopkins is yes she speaks out but honest? no. In one episode she screamed at Perez for calling “her” Great British Public saying how she loved and admired “her” British Public that is all those who are not on benefits and then she’s not so in love. She is clever though and patient and that’s what it takes to win.
She now sees Keith as competition, she has realised that he is the ‘outsider’ who may beat her to the finishing line. Therefore she will be doing everything she can now to discredit him, she is so desperate to win.
