After 13 weeks of drama, joy, tears and tantrums, Big Brother 9 is now over - and so is our coverage of BBUK for the time being.

This has undoubtedly been our best season yet. Over the course of the summer, bbspy has attracted an estimated 10 million hits - that’s more than double the amount we recieved last year!

Thanks for this year go to: Adam, for providing us with hosting, James, for helping out with countless things around the site, Josh, for helping out with news reporting and providing holiday cover, Brekkie, for his continued support, and our fellow Big Brother fansites for their link exchanges and help.

However, the biggest thanks has to go to you, the visitors - without you, we would be nowhere. Thanks for visiting, using and supporting bbspy, and for the numerous comments you have left - 3,138 comments were submitted in total this year.

Many of you have been asking what our plans are for the future - well, we will be returning in December for Celebrity Big Brother 6 (should it be going ahead).

We also have plans to bring back JungleSpy for this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here in November - if you want it back, let us know by sending us an email or leaving a comment below.

In the meantime, our BB9 site will be left open for browsing. It will be updated periodically with any major post-BB news, including details about BB10 auditions and stories relating to E4’s new Big Brother drama, Dead Set. We plan to archive our BB9 site and open a between-series blog later this year.

Also, don’t forget that our Big Brother USA sister site, bbspyUSA, is open and covering BB10US - click here to visit.

If you have any feedback or suggestions/ideas for future sites, feel free to drop us a line.

Overnight ratings show that the final of this year’s Big Brother was the least watched yet, with 4.9m viewers tuning in to see Rachel win.

The 8pm show was watched by an average of 3.85million viewers, a 16.9% share of the audience. 376,000 (1.9%) saw it on timeshift service Channel 4+1, giving the first show a total of 4.23m viewers.

The 10pm show, in which Rachel was crowned the winner, pulled in a total of 4.86million viewers. 4.71m (23%) watched it live on Channel 4, whilst 166,000 (1.5%) watched on Channel 4+1.

The highest rated finale was Big Brother 3’s, when 9.4m people tuned in to watch Kate triumph.

A Channel 4 spokesperson said: “This year’s Big Brother has regularly delivered an audience of around three million viewers - even after nine years on air, it is still right up there among our highest ratings programmes.

“No other programme delivers us such a consistent, sizable audience and we are incredibly pleased with its performance.

“We look forward to celebrating 10 years of Big Brother next year.”

Meanwhile, the last edition of Big Brother’s Big Mouth, which was hosted by Davina, drew 1.03million viewers (8.7%) to E4 between 11pm and 11.50pm, easily the highest ratings that the spin-off has attracted this year. A further 86,000 (1.5%) watched on E4+1, giving it a total of 1.12m.

The 8 Out Of 10 Cats Big Brother special, which also aired between 11pm and 11.50pm, was seen by 1.69m (13.1%) on Channel 4 and 121,000 (2.1%) on C4+1, a combined total of 1.81m.

Welsh teacher Rachel Rice has been voted the winner of Big Brother 9, scooping the £100,000 jackpot prize.

Welsh teacher Rachel Rice has been voted the winner of Big Brother 9, scooping the £100,000 jackpot prize.

She left the house to a cheering crowd and a raucous fireworks display, before being greeted by Davina, who led her off for her press shots.

In response to her victory, she told Davina: “You dream about going in Big Brother, it’s like a dream, and then you go and win. It’s like, how?”

When Davina asked her about her neutral personality and accusations that she was ‘fake’, she said: “When you give your opinion about certain things, it can cause trouble and upset people.

“When I was up for eviction it hurt me when people were saying my name.

“I know who I am. How can you not be who you are when you’re in there for 13 weeks?”

In response to a question about Kat’s eviction, she said: “It was horrible because everyone else was saying that there wasn’t gonna be seven of us in the final, and I believed there was.

“It was such a shock. It was horrible. When anyone leaves it’s not the same. When it’s people really close to you it’s not the same.”

She had recieved 51.3% of the vote when the last count was taken.

Despite being the bookies’ favourite to win for a while, blind radio producer Mikey Hughes has come second.

He left the house to cheers from the crowd, who were also chanting his name.

During his interview with Davina, he said: “Congratulations to Rachel for being the winner of Big Brother!

“I always said from day one, the girl was not a fraud. She thought I’d win tonight, but I’m glad she did.”

When she asked about his straight-talking nature, he said: “Ask anyone at work - I don’t know how many warnings I’ve been on!

“I stood up to all the bullies. I always spoke my mind.

“I wasn’t here to annoy any friends in the house, but I wasn’t here to make friends either.

“I’m glad I made a friend like Rachel but it wasn’t going to get in the way of me standing up to people.”

He recieved 48.7% of the vote to win when the last vote count was taken.

Australian MTV assistant Sara Folino has finished third in Big Brother, leaving Mikey and Rachel in the running for the prize.

Australian MTV assistant Sara Folino has finished third in Big Brother, leaving Mikey and Rachel in the running for the prize.

She left the house to a fantastic reception from the crowd. During her eviction interview, she said: “I thought it [the crowd reception] was amazing, I couldn’t believe it. It made me so happy.”

“I thought I’d be in the house a week or two. I’m shocked I made it to the final day, it’s just so crazy. I think I’m still in shock.”

“I always thought I’m quite an annoying person, and my voice is quite irritating. I made it to the final day, so maybe I’m not that annoying and my voice is not that irritating. That’s nice to know.”

When Davina asked about her relationship with Darnell, she said: “I feel like me and Darnell are really, really close friends. Right now we’re the closest we’ve ever been.

“Obviously we’ve had our down times, and he got me really upset but I have forgiven him.

“I don’t hold a grudge. I feel like since that point we’ve got stronger and stronger and stronger.”

She had recieved 30.1% of the public vote to win when the vote count for third place was taken.

Executive chef Rex Newmark is the second person out tonight, finishing fourth overall in Big Brother 2008.

In his interview, he said: “I’m fine, it’s absolutely surreal. I can’t tell you how surreal it is.”

When he was quizzed about constantly winding the others up, he said: “I think if you take Big Brother too seriously, you’re on the wrong show. You have to take everything with a pinch of salt. I absolutely love to wind people up.”

“I live in a kitchen environment. I’m used to being wound up and winding other people up.”
