Katie Hopkins was catapulted in to the public consciousness as a contestant on BBC One’s The Apprentice in 2006, competing for a £100,000 job working for Lord Alan Sugar.
She made it all the way to the business end of the series – but turned down a place in the grand final, citing a lack of childcare for her daughters.
She was known as the most outspoken contestant, and this trait has been amplified in the last few years, as she’s become a hate figure in the media for her controversial opinions.
Her career as a loudmouth begun in 2013, when she criticised names including Tyler and Chardonnay on ITV’s This Morning. She also voiced disapproval of parents choosing geographical locations as names for their kids – despite calling one of her daughters India.
Since then, she’s done the rounds giving her thoughts on everything from benefits culture to drug addiction. She sparked fury by tweeting about Scottish life expectancy figures in the wake of the Glasgow helicopter tragedy – and recently further irked the Scottish people by criticising them for sending England “Ebola bombs” when an aid worker struck with the deadly disease travelled south for treatment.
Katie has also been vocal on the ‘obesity crisis’ in the UK. Last year she gained four stone in an attempt to prove that it’s easy for fat people to lose weight, with cameras following her for a TLC documentary. My Fat Story went on to become the digital channel’s highest rating show to date.
Seven years after taking part in ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Katie has now signed up for Celebrity Big Brother – although it’s not her first time in Britain’s most famous house, as she was a ‘guinea pig’ rehearsal contestant for Channel 4’s very first civilian series in 2000.
The 39-year-old says she’s got absolutely “nothing to prove” to viewers – indeed, she looks set to be as controversial as ever, as she says she’d hate to live with “any fat person”.
“That is quite a broad spectrum. I have no empathy for a fat person,” she claimed. “I hope there might be one person in there who is funny, clever, witty, well-read or who has spent a lifetime performing on the stage.”
Katie isn’t afraid to get in to a heated debate with her fellow housemates – but she’ll be picking and choosing them wisely. “There will be people trying to get their moment of telly by annoying me, so I will swat them away,” she smiles.
“But if you get some people who actually think what they’re saying and believe it, then sure, I’ll probably go for that.”
I cannot believe Katie H and Michelle are top of the Pop Poll. Michelle has become so transparent and false. Katie H lacks any compassion or concept of reality. Just like Helen Wood, Katie’s popularity is a sign of the times sadly.

She doesn’t like Perez stealing the limelight but persuading housemates to isolate him is a form of bullying and uncomfortable to watch. Nadia disapproves of this and is being snubbed herself now because she won’t be dictated to by Katie H.
Katie is great!! I hope she wins. As for Perez, he gets what he deserves (and probably loves it!)

I don’t think many of you have really got what Katie’s up to and it was very telling in tonight’s highlights show (Saturday 24).
Katie was very complementary regarding Alicia. She said that she was sorry she was gone because she was balsy, coming into her own and standing up for herself with her spats with her and she liked that.
Although they had very big differences I believe Katie did have a soft spot for her. As Alicia said in the diary room “she and Katie’s Hopkins are Bi Polar opposites” so funny, but I do think Katie was trying to keep Alicia interesting and give her some dimension so people would keep her in and let’s face it watching Alicia before Katie was sparing with her was as boring as watching paint dry, but their spats did make her interesting.
She’s not the bad person you are all carrying on about. There’s many things Katie has said that I’m sure the majority of you have said or thought at times but because Katie’s said it you are all up in arms.
She’s not the bully or the bitch so many of you are saying.
I like Katie and yes I do think she’s a good egg and I hope she is there to the end.

Good observation, she says things that many of us are thinking or would like say, but she has the balls to say it out loud in front of everyone and on TV, all to often these days people tend to hide behind a false persona created by themselves to always do and say the right things so’s make themselves look like the good guy, she doesn’t do that, she’s not scared to show herself, warts an all,…..hope she’s in the final :up:

Just because you can say it doesn’t mean you should say it the same way you don’t pi$$ in the sink just because you can.
It’s not that she speaks her mind that I find offensive, I like straight talking folk, it’s just that she’s no filter and says things that are hurtful to whoever she targets whether that be an individual or sections of the public.
Anybody with any brains know when to keep their thoughts to themselves.

Its ok to think whatever you want about people but saying it is another thing. Its obvious she educated but lacks intelligence, sensitivity, compassion, understanding & empathy. Whatever she said about Alicia’s departure is clearly false, she’s playing the game…anyone can see that! Wants to come across as ‘nice’ (no hard feelings etc etc) so the public will like her when all she did was belittle Alicia at any given opportunity. Also whatever opportunity she gets she goes around permanently making snide remarks about Perez & others, incl Patsy & Katie P behind their backs. That is someone who appears to be a sociopath if you ask me. Thats the reason why she seems to find compliments hard to swallow (in her own words ‘achilles heel’)…must have had little or no love in her childhood hence her hatred and cynicism towards everyone. As for her attitude towards Perez she must have lived a sheltered life in the back of nowhere because she’s clearly never met anyone like him before (outrageous, attention starved, needy & utterly bonkers) and we all know that he’s playing up for the camera as that’s what they’re paying him to do. I wonder if she would’ve behaved this way if he was straight though! Live & let live is my policy.
She is good at gurning though, perhaps that could be her new career.

Maybe you are more like Perez. He is too cowardly to say the disgusting things he writes to anyone’s face but opps to hide behind his computer and spread what any reasonable person would consider, vile and hateful things, draws penises over female celebrities mouths and posts them on his website and outs people because HE thinks they should be.
Perez is a utter disgrace and has lost any creditably in the States because of his behaviour. I would take Katie’s straight talk over Perez’s masoginistic cowardly filthy vile blogger rants any day.
I would love to see what he would have done to his so called friends Alicia and Katie Price on his website if he knew them before he went into the BB house. They would have been just fine fodder for him and I guarantee you they would have be so torn apart and ridiculed, labeled as trash and had penises drawn on their faces. That’s his one and only style.

Believe me Sandra I’m no coward but there’s a big difference between straight talking when debating and offering an opinion and straight talking when the sole intention is to belittle and hurt someone for personal gain or pleasure.

Funny is not always a weird act or something that makes you laugh, funny is what put a spontaneous smile on your face, and this is what Katie H does to me! She is intelligent and intellectual, she does not need to make a clown of her self to be funny, she can give her own remarks, her own way and still be funny!
Whats funny about chanting get perez out, and nag nag nagging him all the time. Its just schoolyard behaviour, one liners and put downs can be funny but I haven’t seen any from Katie Hopkins just goading and spitefulness.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, I am no longer watching BB. Really? Another fake eviction? Boring but the real reason I’ve stopped watching it is because Perez Hilton is in there! He annoys the sheet, taunts, runs around in pants etc. etc and of course BB does nothing about it. Why is he getting away with behaviour that others have been tossed out for? I am 100% over the celebrity version of BB and will never view it again. I adore Emma and used to only watch the live shows just to see what she was wearing as I think she’s gorgeous and whoever dresses her, well, after the first show and nipple gate, Emma may as well have a bag over her head. You now have Emma covered head to toe and generally in black which is vile. Oh the Hippocrates of BB. The show itself lacks any social experimental value…everything is scripted, directed with in an inch of their lives. There are so many other great programmes to wacth instead of this crap.
Perez is very annoying but the rants of K. Hopkins are down right dispicable and anyone who thinks she is funny can only be a pack runner and a bully in their own lives.
I do not like Katie as she is the ringleader and bully to stir things up and everyone against Perez – I am sorry a lot of the girls have said just bad things as him and if Katie was not in the house – maybe Perez would behave better. These people are supposed to be mature adults and they are acting like children – and Katie hopkins really thinks she knows it all and what she says is always right – I am not a huge fan of Perez but seeing what his past has been like and troubles – he nees help to heal – Katie is a bitch
