Katie Hopkins was catapulted in to the public consciousness as a contestant on BBC One’s The Apprentice in 2006, competing for a £100,000 job working for Lord Alan Sugar.
She made it all the way to the business end of the series – but turned down a place in the grand final, citing a lack of childcare for her daughters.
She was known as the most outspoken contestant, and this trait has been amplified in the last few years, as she’s become a hate figure in the media for her controversial opinions.
Her career as a loudmouth begun in 2013, when she criticised names including Tyler and Chardonnay on ITV’s This Morning. She also voiced disapproval of parents choosing geographical locations as names for their kids – despite calling one of her daughters India.
Since then, she’s done the rounds giving her thoughts on everything from benefits culture to drug addiction. She sparked fury by tweeting about Scottish life expectancy figures in the wake of the Glasgow helicopter tragedy – and recently further irked the Scottish people by criticising them for sending England “Ebola bombs” when an aid worker struck with the deadly disease travelled south for treatment.
Katie has also been vocal on the ‘obesity crisis’ in the UK. Last year she gained four stone in an attempt to prove that it’s easy for fat people to lose weight, with cameras following her for a TLC documentary. My Fat Story went on to become the digital channel’s highest rating show to date.
Seven years after taking part in ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Katie has now signed up for Celebrity Big Brother – although it’s not her first time in Britain’s most famous house, as she was a ‘guinea pig’ rehearsal contestant for Channel 4’s very first civilian series in 2000.
The 39-year-old says she’s got absolutely “nothing to prove” to viewers – indeed, she looks set to be as controversial as ever, as she says she’d hate to live with “any fat person”.
“That is quite a broad spectrum. I have no empathy for a fat person,” she claimed. “I hope there might be one person in there who is funny, clever, witty, well-read or who has spent a lifetime performing on the stage.”
Katie isn’t afraid to get in to a heated debate with her fellow housemates – but she’ll be picking and choosing them wisely. “There will be people trying to get their moment of telly by annoying me, so I will swat them away,” she smiles.
“But if you get some people who actually think what they’re saying and believe it, then sure, I’ll probably go for that.”
Hopkins “performance” in the diary room tonight was disgusting……….. She really thinks that she can influence us into believing she is really “as soft as butter”……. Good god ….. She is as hard as bloody nails and will do ANYTHING to get what she wants…….. Such a nasty piece of work…… PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LET HER WIN!!!!!!!

Just remember those that vote for her, you are parting with your hard earned money for someone who wouldn’t give you the time of day. To her you would be something she had picked up on her shoe unless you were someone who could help her career that is.

Thats why she works for The Sun…no other newspaper will entertain her garbage so I dont think we have too much to worry about….little fish in a big sea is what she is!! I guess she is entitled to her views, that’s why we live in a democratic society. However, we can console ourselves knowing that people like them do NOT get very far fast. They are cowards. Persecuting & bullying gets people like her nowhere inevitably….there are always people out there that believes in equality, democracy & human rights and will do whatever they have to do to enforce it…they have in the past with Hitler.

The only people in the house that actually determine she was transparent were Nadia & Perez and quite late in the game Katie Price, as she’d spent most of her time observing and analyzing her housemates. The way in which this individual (Hopkins) attempted to use personal control mechanisms to manipulate most members of the house to follow her ‘in’ group in terms of the use of her body language, i.e., the use of her hands, arms, eyes and to an extent her words to command & ‘seduce’ her audience (in and out of the house) is quite clever and rather interesting from a psychological point of view. Although she demonstrated sharp wit in her speech and responses, unfortunately for her (and fortunately for us) she lacks personal charisma and charm as well as eloquence, magnetism and refinement vocally (i.e., in her words, speech). These characteristics are what would be required for someone that would make a cult leader or political dictator, so essence she is not potentially dangerous since society ‘expects’ her to be bombastic and offensive which actually is not a particularly intelligent thing to do if someone wishes to be believable. Personally speaking it makes me wonder if Perez was not in the house if she would have been able to ‘mesmerize’ her housemates (and fans) that easily. She may have found someone else to persecute (perhaps Nadia) in order to gain status/prominence in the house. I’d say that indeed BB (even if she had the highest vote) did a very wise thing and may have altered the machinations accordingly to ‘select’ a different winner as opposed to her. As we have seen her true character came ‘bubbling’ on the surface during the interviews…very interesting indeed!
You say you dont think she’s ‘potentialy dangerous’? But she is!! Aint she nearly got arrested last year for instigating mass genocide against a nation of people? I’d be very careful wot I say if I was her though. Someone might bump her off eh 😯 by the looks of it no one likes her much. :envy:
