Katie Hopkins was catapulted in to the public consciousness as a contestant on BBC One’s The Apprentice in 2006, competing for a £100,000 job working for Lord Alan Sugar.
She made it all the way to the business end of the series – but turned down a place in the grand final, citing a lack of childcare for her daughters.
She was known as the most outspoken contestant, and this trait has been amplified in the last few years, as she’s become a hate figure in the media for her controversial opinions.
Her career as a loudmouth begun in 2013, when she criticised names including Tyler and Chardonnay on ITV’s This Morning. She also voiced disapproval of parents choosing geographical locations as names for their kids – despite calling one of her daughters India.
Since then, she’s done the rounds giving her thoughts on everything from benefits culture to drug addiction. She sparked fury by tweeting about Scottish life expectancy figures in the wake of the Glasgow helicopter tragedy – and recently further irked the Scottish people by criticising them for sending England “Ebola bombs” when an aid worker struck with the deadly disease travelled south for treatment.
Katie has also been vocal on the ‘obesity crisis’ in the UK. Last year she gained four stone in an attempt to prove that it’s easy for fat people to lose weight, with cameras following her for a TLC documentary. My Fat Story went on to become the digital channel’s highest rating show to date.
Seven years after taking part in ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Katie has now signed up for Celebrity Big Brother – although it’s not her first time in Britain’s most famous house, as she was a ‘guinea pig’ rehearsal contestant for Channel 4’s very first civilian series in 2000.
The 39-year-old says she’s got absolutely “nothing to prove” to viewers – indeed, she looks set to be as controversial as ever, as she says she’d hate to live with “any fat person”.
“That is quite a broad spectrum. I have no empathy for a fat person,” she claimed. “I hope there might be one person in there who is funny, clever, witty, well-read or who has spent a lifetime performing on the stage.”
Katie isn’t afraid to get in to a heated debate with her fellow housemates – but she’ll be picking and choosing them wisely. “There will be people trying to get their moment of telly by annoying me, so I will swat them away,” she smiles.
“But if you get some people who actually think what they’re saying and believe it, then sure, I’ll probably go for that.”

I agree with you there,she has done nothing but bully since she went into the house,firstly with Alicia now it is with Perez,I just don’t know why Big Brother hasn’t put a stop to this nonesense before now,if it had been anybody else they would have been thrown out of the house before now,but yet they let her carry on with her daily diatribe to poor Perez,I am glad they are putting him in that secret room,lets just see how long it takes before Katie starts on Nadia for hanging around with him,after all she has been trying to get her to side with her all week so he would be left with no friends in the house after Alicia was evicted,I mean if she knew anything about the reality world at all,she would already know what Perez was all about,she would not be trying to wind him up with her war on words,after all isn’t the old saying “he who laughs last,laughs the longest” I can actually see that being Perez,I hope he wins :up:

Hi I couldn’t agree with you more even now when this cow thinks perez left she still wishes he was there to keep goading him,it shows how sad this creature Hopkins is when she deliberately puts on weight then looses it to prove to overweight people you can loose weight how vindictive is that in other words she trying to belittle them along if these people have real problems but she doesn’t give a shit.

Katie is vile. She can,t stand anyone having a different opinion than hers. I also think she’s up her own arse and I think she will find Michelle up there as well. Kate your becoming very boring with your little chants in EVERY episode. I am not a Perez fan but change the record YAWN :tongue:
I agree Hopkins is a nasty vile woman who hides behind her nasty comments by chanting “freedom of speech” or “it’s just my opinion”…….. I agree with freedom of speech and you own opinion but when these are used as an excuse for nasty hurtful comments it is unacceptable…… Every moment she got she described Alicia as “dumb” and “thick” and only having “2 brain cells”….. Ok so if Alicia wasn’t very quick why stand there and call her names????? What’s the point?????…….. BULLYS show this behaviour…… Adults take no notice or politely ignore the fact they have to explain things all the time………
With all Hopkins has said in the last few years…… Why is anyone still giving her air time??????
Even though he is completely bonkers Perez is far more entertaining than Katie, I hope he wins, that will really put Katie in her place, and show her that she may be able to manipulate some housemates but she can’t control the public.
Katie Hopkins IS A BULLY!! Plain and simple. I cannot believe that BB is allowing her behaviour to continue. What sort of message is this sending to children that you can behave in this way and get away with it. Perez drives me bonkers – but her behaviour is beyond the pale. SHAME ON YOU BIG BROTHER if you have to stoop this low to get ratings.

Nothing Katie has done is bullying. This word is so overused. Perez is a grown man quite capable of looking after himself and what’s more, HE is the utter definition of bullying, the type that has had law suits against him for it and still has some pending for his dreadful behaviour.
Don’t lump Katie in with the likes of Perez his bullying is on a whole different level.
Maybe we should let Perez draw a penis on your face and see how you like it. The cyber troll that is Perez has very little regard for women and makes them his main target along with anyone he thinks is gay and should be outed on his blog.
Persuading the housemates to isolate Perez is bullying in any language. At the end of the day he is human. He is willing to spar with Katie but isolating someone is on a different level, this is what happened to Shilpa Shetty with the Jade Goody gang.

Absolutely correct. Isolating, taunting, name calling, insulting, belittling are all regarded as BULLYING….whether it is in the schoolyard, workplace, your own home, on the internet OR in the Big Brother house. It does not make a difference…the bottom line is that it is completely BULLYING!

I don’t like some of the things she has said about fat people because I think I am fat loads of people tell me I am not but I think I am but I still like her in the house she is right about perez but o don’t want her to win

Whether we like Katie Hopkins or Perez Hilton doesn’t matter because they’re staying until the final, BB are making sure of that.
When Katie H was up for eviction they gave Katie P the power to save someone knowing at the time Katie P was trying to gel with her so saving her was the obvious choice. Then Parez was up for eviction and he was sent to the (not so) secret room which saved him from being kicked out and now with BB fearing Katie H could go they told Parez he can put someone else up knowing full well he’d pick Cami, who I can’t see pulling in any votes from the public so once again Katie Hopkins will be safe.
BB need both of them in until the final for their ratings and will do all they can to make sure this happens, so in no particular order the next HM to be evicted is…………..silent pause………

Katy Hopkins is a bully, she’s only able to put people down, I can’t understand why Channel 5 allows this , Cammi is also a bully anyone who gangs up againt others is a bully ! Come on BB sort them out it’s not good viewing.
:down: Yes indeed its all about ratings for C5. Any person that does not think before they speak lacks intelligence regardless of whether they have degrees coming out of their b***sides!! Like I said before…this woman lacks intelligence, compassion, understanding & empathy which makes us all humans. Get her out C5…the house would be a better place without her.
The Parez re-entry was priceless just for the look on Katie Hopkins face, she was that mad she couldn’t speak which is not a bad thing. It will haunt her the rest of her days knowing that he was the one and not her loyal subjects who got her to make a fool of herself with her impression of a chicken.
If he is next to go at least he has that to look back on with some satisfaction.

Katie calling the public “my people”, my God what a big head, Perez is right she is two faced, and what a miserable face.
Her people includes those who name their child Tyler, working class, fat, left wing, Scottish, breast feeder. Which means I’m one her crowd – lucky me!
