Gary Busey is an American actor best known for his roles in Point Break and The Buddy Holly Story, and his reputation for bizarre behaviour.
After growing up in Oklahoma, he attended Kansas State University on a football scholarship, but his dreams of pursuing a career in professional sports were shattered after injuring his knee. He then moved to Hollywood to pursue a music career, but acting beckoned.
After securing several small roles in both film and television during the 1970s, he made his film debut in Angels Hard As They Come in 1971. Following this he starred as the lead in The Buddy Holly Story, which led to him winning an Academy Award nomination.
Later in Garyβs acting career, he took on more sinister roles in the action thrillers Lethal Weapon (1987), Predator 2 (1990), and of course Point Break (1991), with Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. He also played a cameo role as himself in the comedy Entourage.
Gary had a near-fatal motorcycle accident in 1989 after he rode without a helmet. This resulted in the enactment of stricter helmet laws in the State of California.
The accident split his skull open and he was taken to hospital for immediate surgery. Gary claims that his brain got altered – it was a wake-up call to get his life in order and to appreciate it. He recovered two and a half months earlier than predicted, and says his faith was the reason.
Gary has three children – son Jake with his first wife Judy, daughter Alectra with Tracy Hutchinson and son Luke with his wife Steffanie Sampson. He has black belts in budo-jujitsu, capoeira, hapkido, and kendo.
@Jane Shepherd
Beautifully put Jane. π :up:
@Sandy
I seem to have struck a raw nerve with my ‘imaginary theories’.
I have a very sunny disposition and if you think you’ve ‘fired me up’ you are sadly mistaken.
I’m glad I brightened your day and made you giggle. I guess that’s not something that happens often.
@Sun
I prefer to see it as one group, who for some misguided reason feel they are superior to anyone with a different opinion from their own and the other group, who have respect, compassion and a deep rooted abhorrence for bullying, intimidation and cruelty to an older, partially disabled person.
I leave you to guess which group you belong to. :down:
@Jane Shepherd
the only thing I can add to this brilliant post is a quote I heard a long time ago.
“Remember, people who try to bring you down are already below you.”
@Kent
And that is so true. :heart:
Poor Gary.Edele has turned on gary just like the others did,it’s the pack mentality thing,just so she can get more air time.How shallow they all must be to pick on a mentally challenged person.Dee is a big fat pig,and a criminal,scrounging piece of garbage to boot!Audley is the most sincere,compassionate,more evolved person in that house,as well as being the only person who hasn’t bullied Gary.Audley or Gary to win. :heart: :heart: :up: :up: π :happy:
By the way, a friend of mine on another site says he’s having problems phoning in a vote for Gary. Anyone else having trouble?
The BB app is apparently proving difficult. I will try again and let you know.
@jennyjuniper
I got through no problem earlier Jenny. Voted for Gary and Audley :up:
@Donna Mc
Just did the same on the app – they have blanked out all the photos probably because Garys’ wasn’t showing yesterday.
I don’t think Gary is mentally damaged at all, if you listen to him he’s spot on. Nobody gives him time to relax and speak without lecturing him on his rudeness first. He’s told them he doesn’t mean to be rude it’s just that he can’t hear yet nstead of just accepting that and moving on they continue to scold him, it’s ridiculous. The only people who accept Gary for who he is are Audley, Lauren and Frenchie (when she was in there). Gary should win just to give these idiots a kick up the ass.
@rachfio
For once we agree, Gary or Audley to win -although I do believe Gary has endured major head trauma, brain damage is used to easily as an excuse and is misunderstood.
I lived in the US for 4 years and my daughter married an American…..it was a culture shock …..they do not have table manners like we do….they do not understand our turn of phrase …..nor our sense of humour….what Im trying to say is Gary is a typical American….what we percieve as rude is just the way they are……I visited Oklahoma where chewing tobacco and spitting is the norm…..I was horrified…..so we have to accept that we are all different….. the hearing aid problem is real……if there is a lot of background noise one cannot hear if someone speaks……my adopted father in law has this problem…… :happy:
I beg to differ Jbc, not all Americans are the same, my son has been in California for 23years, and we have been there every year, and never ever found them not to have table manners etc. they are very friendly, and like every country in the world, there are good areas and bad areas, all depending where you go.@jbc
Mmmm I lived in California and found the people there used their forks to cut their food … also I was generalising and not slating the americans at all….just pointing out our differences…….
@jbc
That is right, whereas here many people scoop their food onto the fork with a knife and use it like a spoon..
Totally agree Dragon. Have many friends and family in US and have travelled extensively there. Always find them to be polite and well mannered. Also there seems a lot less use of the f word in everyday conversation than here. @Dragon
I agree, there are many differences and what we consider good manners is not necessarily perceived in the same way by other nationalities and cultures.
That said every nation will have people with bad manners, but I think Gary has had poor treatment by all the housemates except Audley.
He has several other issues to over come that most of us take for granted, his hearing for one, even with a hearing aid it is confusing when several people all talk at once, then our British colloquialisms – what we consider normal is not the same for him, and ontop of that accents, two of my American friends that live in Albany struggle to understand who the call the southern rednecks (sometimes its exaggerated for a joke – I understand that) – but also I struggled at times to understand Ashleigh in the previous series although I really liked her I had to rewind many times to ‘get it’
So much depends on individuals and the patience and tolerance of others IMO.
GARY TO WIN ! :up: :up: :up:
I feel sorry for Gary.. having no real friend in the house as they are all so vile to him (other than audley) Hope Gary wins!
I absolutely love gary! The more they keep having a go at him the more I want to protect him… He takes the shit off JAMES on the chin bless him. James needs a good talking to by someone a bit bigger than him! He’s horrible. Keep going gary I love your little smile!
Take care hope you win darling! x x x
There Now a nice Scots lass on BBOTS telling the truth about Gary yeees about time CBB. GO GARY :up: :up:
Loving Gary!! They keep putting him down ,showing no respect lecturing him telling him how rude he is but you know what he bounces right back at them .Its only Audley who acts like a man that gives GARY any respect Shame on the British public for rewarding such behaviour !!
@sharon
