Deirdre Kelly, better known as ‘White Dee’, came to public prominence in the Channel 4 documentary Benefits Street. Critics have vilified her as the “patron saint of drug addicts and dropouts”, whereas fans see her as a working-class hero. Dee is a single mother to a son and a daughter.
Until five years ago, Deirdre worked as an administrator for Birmingham City Council, until it was claimed she was being convicted of stealing to fund her then-partner’s drug abuse.
Since then Dee received benefits from the government after claiming she could not work due to suffering from depression.
Since the success of Benefits Street, Dee has received offers from all over the world for appearances in modelling, newspaper columns, cooking, holidays, as well as other television reality shows.
Recently Dee travelled to Magaluf. This resulted in David Cameron personally ordering a probe into her finances after she was photographed enjoying a boozy holiday, despite being ‘too depressed’ to work. Dee no longer claims benefits.

You right! He said a different thing from what she thought. She didn’t listen properly because she doesn’t like him. Then went inside and added arms and legs to what was said and got most hm,s bad mouthing him again. So much for her being good with people and sooo caring huh bitch. I dont understand. Ive worked all my life too but if she had been on benefits ALL her life i would understand what your saying but dee has worked hard and paid taxes etc i am never so quick to judge another person until ive walked in their shoes. your way of thinking will never be like anothers way of thinking entirely – if we all judge each other harshly this world will fall apart
maybe dee should write a book on her life ….. You all read it ….. Then you are in a good position to judge cos you know all the details

Hi Argyll, I would love that too, but they won’t, because for some reason they seem to want Dee to be favourite. Could it be that the new series of benefit street is about to start? And their new ‘star’ of that show is just as unappetising as that slob Dee is. :doh:
It has clearly got to her that people have this opinion of her that she is a benefit scrounger. And quite right too. As far as her and Ricci saying that “it’s nobody’s business if she claims benefit” oh yes it is.
If you put yourself on a TV programme whose sole purpose is to make a feature showing your lazy benefit grabbing lifestyle alongside your drug addicted mates then you make it our business.
Typically, she was quick to start poking about in Claire’s belonging where her only purpose was to grab her cigarettes.
The sad thing about it is that so many people think of her as a good person and think she hasn’t done much wrong.
Listening to her having a conversation with anybody I can only hear her saying “Do you know what I am saying?” and “Do you know what I mean?”
I never watched benefits street and thought Dee was misunderstood, but after reading she stole £13, 000 from the council when she worked there I have changed my mind completely. Her excuse was she done it to support her other halfs drug habit. I’m sorry but there was probably other avenues she could of taken but she decided to steal and it wasn’t exactly pocket change either. That’s alot if money!! And she’s suppose to be all about care in the community and the way she treats gary is disgusting :down:

DEE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO BE THERE AFTER ALL THE OTHERS ARE ONLY VERY MINOR CELEBS!

Dee should have been warned by BB when she acted in a threatening manner (directly and indirectly) to the other HMs when Ricci was nominated in the last round. Why wasn’t she warned?

She has started to play a ‘good’ game by crying to James in the pod and setting the scene to play the victim. -She sees James as the alpha male. (wrongly so IMO) but it sets the tone for mutual thinking in that she has shared with him and he with her…… therefore they won’t nominate each other.
Claire – the only other possible matriarch has gone.
She has Ricci Lauren and George on board possibly Stephanie too – her babies.
So she now isolates Gary and lies about what his responses were.
She has spent quite a bit of time with Kellie so she/he is no threat. That leaves Audley and Edele.
I think she will bide her time before creating some more animosity between James and Audley, thinking the babies will back who she perceives is the better one (James) – so Audley will be her next target. Hopefully Edele and possibly George will see through it but I doubt it.
She is not daft this woman. And if anyone tries to insinuate a racist attitude from her towards Audley, she will plead innocence because the newly found love of her life is also a married black man (on benefits too according the press)
So yes this is just a trailer episode for Ch5’s new Benefit Street. In and effort to glean popularity for Dee and secure future viewers for the new show.
Ugh. – why can’t they just let us, the viewers do straight voting throughout ?

Dreadful person, CBB has sunk to an all time low – why do we have to celebrate someone who has now come off “Benefits” – I cannot see her getting up for work at 6 am. and working a full day, NO, someone thinks she needs to be rewarded and this is the sort of person we need to entertain us. I would fire the producers if I owned the show.
Dee is the best on there. Does she get her methadone given to her in there each morning ?

Have you seen the ‘star’ of the new benefits street Argyll. A skinnier version of Dee :doh: I have an awful feeling that this woman is going to be promoted all the way to the winning post just as the Wood woman was.

My thoughts exactly I put a post on the who nominated who page. To be honest I had never watched Dee in that other benefits programme, I think if you are on benefits it is unfortunate, but you do the best you can to get off them ( although our system makes it so easy to remain there – don’t want to get on my political horse on here though!)
