Deirdre Kelly, better known as ‘White Dee’, came to public prominence in the Channel 4 documentary Benefits Street. Critics have vilified her as the “patron saint of drug addicts and dropouts”, whereas fans see her as a working-class hero. Dee is a single mother to a son and a daughter.
Until five years ago, Deirdre worked as an administrator for Birmingham City Council, until it was claimed she was being convicted of stealing to fund her then-partner’s drug abuse.
Since then Dee received benefits from the government after claiming she could not work due to suffering from depression.
Since the success of Benefits Street, Dee has received offers from all over the world for appearances in modelling, newspaper columns, cooking, holidays, as well as other television reality shows.
Recently Dee travelled to Magaluf. This resulted in David Cameron personally ordering a probe into her finances after she was photographed enjoying a boozy holiday, despite being ‘too depressed’ to work. Dee no longer claims benefits.
I can’t actually find a place to start a thread so sorry but I am gonna do it here. Firstly, the was Gary is being treated is disgusting. Since day 1, James has been nasty…trying to appear to be friendly, helping Gary out then as soon as he walks away, he slags him off. James is also a little mole about town. He gossips like no ones business and I despise him!
Stephanie is insufferable ! Her brother Spencer was nasty but never in a vile, mean or nasty kind of way…it was never personal with Spence but Stephanie is vile!!! She is one mean spirited girl. Yes, I do feel she is using George, (more fool him) because he’s popular with the public. From time to time, George realizes whats shes like and even says it to other hm’s but he still keeps going back for more. There are so many nothing hm’s this year: Ricci…what does he do? What does he add to the house? Nothing Lauren, another nothing HM…she must have taken note from Sam F. just be quiet, stay out of arguments and the public won’t notice you so you stay in longer. The only actual celebrity in the BB house is Gary…Wasn’t it Clair who said she hated people from reality tele? Another back paddler as well as a nothing character.
I am also sensing tension between Emma and Rylan and if you look at THEIR body language, you will see it too. Something is amiss there. Kelly, what a nasty piece of work. She’s got more issues than the Daily Mail. I don’t feel sorry for her nor do I feel any compassion toward her. All she ever talks about is ME, ME, ME and I for one am sick of it. She should be seeking mental health help and not try to find herself in the BB house. The fact that she was paid so much more than the other hm’s is disgusting too! Why? Because she’s transgender? Do you know how many people are transgender? This is nothing new, nothing shocking or nothing interesting. Bored.com with her.
Started off quite well as a fake Royal, but it’s been downhill ever since, she just cooks, smokes & gossips.
Not exactly entertaining. 🙁

Mrs Benefits Street Fatso is not entertaining at all, maybe the others aren’t voting for her because they are scared of her. If she is annoyed someone voted for Ricci, imagine what she would be like if she was up for eviction.

dee worked hard from 15 years old till 5 years ago. She made a mistake at work theiving money to help her abusive partner she had two kids been on benefit last 5 years
she aint been on benefit all her life.
Its not right ppl judge her so harshly – she seems a nice person to me sound and alright

She was convicted of theft in 2007 after stealing £13,000 from Birmingham city council so she has been on the dole for at least seven years – her work history prior to that is vague to say the least. No-one is perfect, and I don’t profess to be, but this woman is not worthy of admiration. I was 15 when I left school & have worked all my life, I’m now 62 & I still can’t retire, because the age of retirement has increased. So don’t anyone preach to me that this person is worthy, she’s been bloody lucky and that’s all.
Exactly,people who work hard all their lives,have morals and keep inside the law are almost victimised in this society! Same all the time, oh she lived in a terrible neighbourhood,got into drugs and stole to feed her habit,turns her life around and they are somehow lauded over :doh: What about the other girl who grew up next door in the terrible neighbourhood. Dee and Gary were outside having a discussion and ended up with a fallout because Dee could not take what Gary was trying to explain and she got up and left calling him sly and she went into kitchen and told a pack of lies about him saying he was rude nasty and that he said remember nominations are coming up ,he did not.
