Deirdre Kelly, better known as ‘White Dee’, came to public prominence in the Channel 4 documentary Benefits Street. Critics have vilified her as the “patron saint of drug addicts and dropouts”, whereas fans see her as a working-class hero. Dee is a single mother to a son and a daughter.
Until five years ago, Deirdre worked as an administrator for Birmingham City Council, until it was claimed she was being convicted of stealing to fund her then-partner’s drug abuse.
Since then Dee received benefits from the government after claiming she could not work due to suffering from depression.
Since the success of Benefits Street, Dee has received offers from all over the world for appearances in modelling, newspaper columns, cooking, holidays, as well as other television reality shows.
Recently Dee travelled to Magaluf. This resulted in David Cameron personally ordering a probe into her finances after she was photographed enjoying a boozy holiday, despite being ‘too depressed’ to work. Dee no longer claims benefits.
Let’s be honest, she played a blinder last night – She’ll be getting the vote of the stupid and the fat women who have never worked a day in their sodding lives.

I think an awful lot of the voters are reality TV fans. and see these people as aspirational ?
I had to laugh when Dee ran for the cigarettes when they were told Claire wouldn’t be coming back. Never seen her move so fast.
I am disabled and unfortunate enough to be on benefits, after 15 years working, and I hate it! Dee started blubbing last night how hard it is, crap….I know half of our street on benefits with big cars, tv’s, kids have everything. We can just pay the rent. The way she has talked to Gary is just wrong. He has worked all his life, and still is, has not resorted to f ing and blinding to speak, Gone through cancer and still holds his own. What has Dee bought to this world? Oh yeah, kids! Her attitude is” I’m a star now, treat me like one” and what is all this shit ” who nominated my babies” is she going to claim benefits for them? If she wins it’s as fixed as Helen winning.

Hi Anna, I’ve been wondering how you are doing. Great to hear a post from you. And you are spot on I have nothing against people being on benefits when they need the system. Its the likes of Dee and all she exhibits that gives genuine people a bad name.

I know Gary is no push over and can hold his own, but why put up with THAT! Where is bb stance on bulling. Now Kelly is jumping on the bandwagon.

I read the the new Benefits st is filmed in Stockton-on-Tees where the new “star” is someone they’ve nicknamed “Orange Dot” & her son is a convicted paedophile- no doubt we shall be having her force fed to us in due time. (and may the Lord have mercy on our souls)!!!!!!!!!

Was unsure about posting about CBB as the bitching between posts got bad on normal BB, but not too bad on here. I’m no softy( 6 ft tall and built like a brick shit house) but I was bullied and Dee is the exact replica of some of the people that did it. Joking aside, I never bought her ‘ everyone’s friend ‘ act, it’s tedious. Clearly hoping to pick a few votes from Ricci’s fans ( 3 of em ) and went for the sympathy vote with the tears last night.
Wanting to smash a 70yr old face in ? Wow – she was the aggressive one, not Gary.
Gary is smart and has helped some see her true colours.
@northernmonkey I do agree, she is just on a mission to gets votes for the next benefit street series ( which I didn’t watch BTW) – the only time I heard of her was on an interview on This Morning ( I’ve been on maternity leave) And after hearing all the furore, she is now being made as some kind of aspirational person. Makes a little bit of sick come up in my throat too !! 😀 😀

I am extremely disappointed with Dee as she’s not very nice toward Gary. She’s abusive and I thought she was nice but she’s showing her true colours. Also I’m very surprised with George and Ricci when they nominated Gary. Oh boy, they haven’t got any clue!!!
