Abz Love was a member of the famous 90’s boy band 5ive. They sold almost 20 million records around the world. At an early age, Abz was singing and was accepted into the Italia Conti stage school and started auditioning aged 15. His teacher at Italia Conti suggested he audition for a boy band that was being put together by Simon Cowell. Abz was 17 when he joined 5ive.
5ive was put together in 1997. The boys were handpicked from 3,000 hopefuls at an audition. The band’s self-titled debut album debuted at number 1 in the UK chart in June. They returned to the UK charts in July 1999 with the number 2 single, ‘If Ya Gettin’ Down’, and finally achieved the top slot in October with ‘Keep On Movin’. The following July they topped the UK singles chart with an energetic cover version of Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’. 5ive’s third album was premiered by August 2001’s chart-topping single, ‘Let’s Dance’. The band split up in 2001.
About a year after the breakup, Abz enjoyed a brief but successful solo career, releasing the album Abstract Theory in 2003, which produced three top 10 singles in the UK. Abz has admitted he had thrown all his money away on a champagne and drug lifestyle: “I had weed hanging out of my mouth and cocaine all over me. I had 25 watches to choose from, I had so many diamonds rolling around my wrist that you couldn’t even tell what the time was. It was pathetic.”
In 2007, only eight months after reforming the band and having failed to secure a lucrative enough record deal, 5ive announced that they would no longer be pursuing a comeback.
However, in 2013, they did once again reunite – albeit with only four members – for ITV2 reality show The Big Reunion, which followed a number of formerly popular groups as they took to the stage once more. The show was so successful that the bands involved went on joined UK arena tour, and 5ive are now set to embark on a new UK tour of their own in November.
Abz has now found love; he credits his girlfriend Vicky for saving his life: “I had therapy for a bit but it didn’t really work,” he said. “The only way I got through it was because of my girlfriend. She gave me a reason to live. Every day is a bonus now. I thought I knew it all and I was wrapped up in a superficial world – but she’s shown me there’s more to life.”
He’s an ex member of a manufactured boy band, spends most of the time isolated from the group. Would rather deal with the flowers moths & spiders. When he does speak he spouts hippy dippy bull about running through the forest naked, in a fake ghetto accent. If he wasn’t 34 I’d call him a crazy mixed up kid. Winner???? @Ally totally agree. My friends son suffers from Aspergers and what you have said is spot on. He has a wonderful disposition, loves animals and nature and takes time to adjust to a new environments.
l too think ABZ has been amazing for a person who suffers with this Syndrome. It must be extremely hard for him but he never complains. I hope that this very quiet achiever wins!!!
What idiot was it that presumed that he is from a white middle class family. His father is Turkish, his mother is a true eastender and he was born and brought up in Hackney. He is by far the most natural, compassionate and real housemate in there. Stay real Abz and don’t get involved in tittle tattle, you are a mile apart from the rest. Great to watch
Abz, I am Dilkys aunty and I am telling you Don’t trust Charlotte, she is disgusting, vindictive and childish. If my daughter turned out like her then I would disown her. You are an inspiration abz and you have a lot to give. Stay strong and true. I am proud of you. Aspergers isn’t just behaviour problems every case is different there is a wide range of symptoms and you don’t have to have everyone to have the condition. @Yogi

Totally agree with you Kye, ABZ has held himself together so wonderfully in the house despite all the crap going on around him. He has been so interesting to watch when CBB has actually given him any airtime and a perfect gentleman to all. Why is it that if you are not a bitching moaning twit or a total nutcase you cannot be considered good viewing. I would have rather seem ABZ sitting in the garden than watching that ridiculous Lauren doing her Sharon Stone impersonation in the diary room any day.

Abz is definitely an acquired taste & the more I see of him the more he irritates me, he is boring & a bad communicator but to be honest the Finals a bit of a damp squib, a real motley crew left, can’t warm to any of em :down:

Why keep comparing Abz to the other more bitchy house mates to somehow excuse his total lack of any presence. He could be in a house full of nuns & he’d still be Mr comatose. & his tree hugging meanderings are beyond lame & embaressing. Finally that accent, christ, whether he was raised in middle class suburbia or on the mean streets of er Hackney, that stupid, stupid, accent is absolutely ridiculous. Silly confused man :doh:
He was born in enfield which is a rich area of north london and his mum is irish not east end. Besides old eastenders don’t talk the way he does he speaks like a Jamaican which is fine but at some point in his life he made a conscious decision to talk that way and i would be interested to know why. He moved to eastend at a later date but he went to stage school so hardly grew up on the streets! I agree he is a nice guy but bloody hell what a random accent!
