Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino is an American television personality. He has appeared on the MTV reality show Jersey Shore since 2009.
Mike was born in West New Brighton, Staten Island, New York, and grew up in Manalapan Township, New Jersey. Mike worked as an assistant manager of a fitness centre in Staten Island. When he was 25, he lost this job and began underwear modelling.
Mike made more than $5 million in 2010, the second highest of any other reality star after Kim Kardashian. This money was accrued through endorsements with Devotion Vodka and Reebok as well as a ghost-written autobiography, a rap song, a workout DVD, a vitamin line, a clothing line, and appearances including Jersey Shore and Dancing with the Stars.
In August 2011, Mike was offered a “substantial” sum of money by fashion retailer Abercrombie & Fitch not to wear the company’s clothes. A spokesman for the company explained that “Mr Sorrentino’s association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image.” In November 2011, Mike filed a lawsuit against Abercrombie & Fitch after they made shirts that read “The Fitchuation” and “GTL…You Know The Deal.”
On March 21, 2012, Mike confirmed that he had checked himself into rehab “to get control of a prescription medication problem.” He checked out of the Cirque Lodge treatment center in Utah on April 4, 2012.
Mike explained that the situation worsened without him noticing, as at first he fooled himself into believing the painkillers actually gave him energy.
Mike said ‘I made a mistake picking a substance over what I would have chosen before – which was fitness.’
Poignantly, he said that he now “Wakes up every day with a smile.” and is, “Happy to be alive.”
He will be so much fun this series !
To me, he is the most famous person in the house this year. Maybe not in the UK, but in the US he is mega famous. I hope he’s entertaining and if he’s anything like he is on Jersey Shore, he sure as hell will be.

Indeed James, he is the most famous because he is known worldwide. Never watched Geordie Shore, the series that was based on Jersey Shore. If it is based on types like Jay from Big brother, i say thanks but no thanks.

Compared to TotalBigBrother, most of bbspy is loving him! I agree James, he is the most famous in the house as he’s known by most people around the world. Can’t believe they didn’t know him apart from Harvey :shock:! Most people are branding him as a d*ck only because he went in with a lot of confidence! He’s is absolutely funny on Jersey Shore, big big fan of the US reality tv show. Hope he goes far! 😀

Boooooooo!!! Hisssssssss!!!!! That you would change the title of Mike’s page over a mean-spirited comment made by the most pompous ass in the house is unbelieveable. Since day one, Julian has done nothing but look down his nose and be nasty to him for no other reason than he’s an American. Julian has had no interest in anything that Mike says (which was obvious when he relayed to Jasmine, when she asked MIKE, a completely twisted and incorrect story of how he got his name). It’s obvious Julian is jealous that a young ‘American’ could gain so much more fame and fortune than he’s ever had. He’d better be careful or Big Brother will have to summon a medic in to treat him for whiplash (there’s only so far one can tilt their head back to look down their nose at someone without an injury).
I have never watched Jersey Shore (nor do I have any intention of doing so), but I have seen Mike on many talk shows as well as DWTS (which I dreaded when I heard); but he proved himself to be an absolute sweetheart and gained even more of a fanbase outside of his reality show. I’m glad I get this opportunity to see him in a more natural setting and witness the softer, more relatable side to him… and I’m getting a kick out of seeing his confusion with the language barrier.

I’m old school, no Twitter in my universe. The only real offense I took to it was from the vile mouth from whom it stemmed from. And from what I’ve seen on your Pop Poll, it appears more people are in favour of The Situation. Thanks for changing it back.

Lol, I prefer “The Occasional Table”, it sounds so humorous when I think about it, more catchy than “The Situation” by a clear mile.

From what he said to Lorenzo “Did you ever sit at the lunch table by yourself” leads me to believe he was a bully in highschool which means I will continue not to like him very much.

A bully? I find that so far off the mark and completely unfounded. They were duscussing the amount of boos Lorenzo got from the eviction crowd when Mike made that comment. Since Danica was in the room with them, he was subtly hinting to Lorenzo that those boos stemmed from the Americans being the ‘unpopular kids in school’ (he did, afterall, hear boos mixed in for him too). Lorenzo did understand what he was saying; but then Danica stepped in with her twisted version of what he meant by it and swung it around to being a nasty attack on her, which was also very far from the mark. Got to hand it to the gold-digger, she’s a master at maniuplation and amazing to watch. I’m just glad Mike’s well aware of pre-nups. lol

Interesting, I thought quite the opposite to you. That gave me the impression Mike was a loner himself who never got any of the girls because they went for the popular guys. Now that’s completely reversed & he wanted to know if Lorenzo had ever been in that situation as the whole love triangle has reminded him of the past especially when she spends time with the Prince & leaves him behind on his own. Ahahaha
