Matthew says he is a troublemaker, deliberately provocative and is not afraid to voice his opinions. He describes himself as ‘stereotypically feminine’ and ‘camp’ and says he has often been questioned about his sexuality – but he has a girlfriend whom he has been with for 6 years.

He has very strong attitudes towards a number of topics, such as ‘notions of gender role, given it is something that I believe has affected me throughout my life’. He openly admits to wearing makeup including foundation, concealer, eyebrow pencil and sometimes eyeliner.

He thinks his best personality traits are his ‘dry humour’ and his ‘ability to offend people without actually offending them’. Some people find him annoying. which irritates him because ‘if they listened, they’d see there’s more to me’.

Matthew is ‘not the typical 23-year-old Jewish boy, I like the fact I don’t fit in’. He also likes that he is confident; he doesn’t get intimidated and doesn’t second guess himself.

Within his friendship group, he is always the ‘centre of attention, making everything about me’. He is the loudest with the most to say and is the one to ‘stir up the drama’. He thinks his friends would describe him as ‘standalone, loud, vain and pretentious’.

Matthew gets on best with ‘intelligent people with opinions and something to say’. When people don’t have anything to say on a subject, he says he’ll antagonise them and push them for an opinion. He would enjoy tasks where he can prove he’s ‘more intelligent than someone else’.

As a housemate, he thinks he’ll be controversial and a ‘bit of a prima donna and drama queen’.

    Tbh I think he reacted a lot better to the whole box thing last night than Mark did, and yet he was the one being punished. Very quirky character.

    So he doesn’t like unintelligent people? What a dimwit I mean you have to be seriously thick to say that on your vt! What makes him think he’s so bright anyway? Moron! :down:

    He does seem interesting but I partially agree Zara – not a bright move to say something like that on the vt. I can’t help thinking there’s a bit of a game player here though – but intriguing non the less!

    I like him, he’s very interesting and I can see him becoming a real character but the fact is he’s got in with the wrong crowd.

    He doesn’t seem like the kind of person to be hanging around with the school bullies, more like a ‘victim’ who has the last laugh. Yet he’s in with them but I’m sure things will change.

    @Liam
    He seems to be “digesting” everything going on, yet he’s not voicing much of his opinions, perhaps he knows he could be Pauline’s 3rd target (along with Jale and Christopher) ?

    he’s clearly an intelligent one; it was very shrewd of him to pick Marc as the most unintelligent. He’s no victim at all lol

    I like him too, another housemate who’s been overshadowed by the gobshites in there, very funny, sarcastic & quite clever, should show more of him in each episode :up:

    My 17 year old son looks very much like Matthew and has his ‘feminine’ and ‘camp’ demeanour but is 100% heterosexual too. They are so similar it’s uncanny. Matthew to win!! :heart: :heart:
