Lee Ryan is an English singer-songwriter and actor. He is best known for being a member of the British boyband Blue, who have sold over 14million records worldwide.
Blue has four members – Lee, the youngest member, along with Simon Webbe, Duncan James and Antony Costa. In 2001 they released their debut single, ‘All Rise’. Notorious for his enthusiastic and mischievous performances, Lee soon became a favourite with fans, old and young.
Atomic Kitten’s Liz McClarnon and Lee hit the headlines after the pair got close in September 2001. They got engaged in 2003, but later split after Liz said she found it too hard to be part of a celebrity couple.
Blue became one of the biggest-selling pop acts across the world, winning awards such as Best Newcomer at the BRIT Awards 2002, Best UK Band and Best Live Act at the Smash Hits Awards 2002 and Best Single, Best Newcomer and Best Pop Act at the Capital FM Awards. MTV Japan voted the band’s ‘One Love’ video as Best Pop Video whilst MTV Asia named them Best International Group.
Blue has collaborated with superstars such as Elton John on ‘Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word’ and Stevie Wonder on ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’.
In 2011, Blue represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest, and in April 2013, Blue joined ITV’s The Big Reunion alongside Atomic Kitten, 5ive, The Honeyz, Liberty X and 911, who all recently released a charity single for Christmas in aid of the Text Santa appeal.
Blue has just embarked on UK tour. Following their sell-out show at London’s Hammersmith Apollo, the boys returned to the stage in December to support Wet Wet Wet on their arena tour. Their recent album ‘Roulette’ rocketed into the top 10 in the midweek charts.
