Acting heartthrob Sam is best known for his time on the cobbles of Coronation Street playing Adam Barlow. As well as Corrie, Sam has appeared in Scottish soap River City, Sky One’s The Match and E4’s Beaver Falls.

Sam’s boyish good looks saw him modelling to help pay his way through University. Of his modelling days, Sam admits: ‘I had long hair and thought I was Liam Gallagher.’

Taking the model-turned-actor route, Sam joined the cast of Corrie having never acted before: ‘I was 18 and I’d not done any acting whatsoever. I went along to the audition and after a couple of call-backs I got it. So that was me, going from being a student with no acting experience to suddenly being on the set within six weeks.’

Sam left the soap after three years because he felt he had become ‘public property’. He worked on his acting and came back in 2009 as Flynn in teen comedy drama Beaver Falls. His character had many saucy scenes with the boss’ wife, played by the beautiful Alison Doody. Of his sex scenes, Sam said: ‘My character gets a lot of action and I wasn’t complaining!’

Keeping to the cougar theme, Sam says ‘Most guys in their twenties fancy older women. Don’t get me wrong, there has to be something more than just being older! They have to be super-hot too. But I think most guys our age think about it.’ Despite being linked to Miss Scotland (Katherine Brown), Sam says that he finds Scottish girls ‘feisty’: ‘The girls in Glasgow are weird. You have to watch what you say, how you’re looking at people.’

    Well done to him for his maraculous acting career, fabulous! I defo agree with his comments about watching what you say & how you look at Glasgow people. I’m a bit glasweigan myself because my Mum’s originally from there & if I think anyone’s looking at me the slightest wrong way I automatically think they’re either thinking nasty things about me or they’re gossiping. & if someone says the slightest thing out of line I can get very defensive so he’s bang on with his comment there. Watch out for me Sam & remember smile! Hahahaha. Or you’re in bother, ahahaha 😉

    @Sarah-Jane
    Don’t think that is necessarily a Glaswegian trait.

    Irene, did you have to say that? I think I would know a lot more about glasweigan traits being partly glasweigan myself & my Mum is from that background than you ok? So leave it be.

    Being fully Glaswegian myself, yes I take that comment as an insult to Glaswegians. The traits of character you describe generally are formed in a dysfunctional upbringing and nothing whatsoever linked to a birthplace. That is nonsense.And once again I ask you to stop being so offensive.

    So now you’re implying I had a dysfunctional upbringing? You’re the only one being offensive here Irene. Listen I’ve had quite a great upbringing alright. I have grown with two loving, extremely caring parents who were always there for me, standing by me through all my difficult times at high school & so on. I had one of these very traditional upbringings so whenever I’m around others in public I always ensure I behave polite, friendly & in a gentle manner. However I just happen to have another side of me which I keep well hidden from my family & close friends. It’s all part of suffering from aspergers syndrome Irene. So thanks Irene, for thinking I must have had a dysfunctional background to have that typical glasweigan trait. & don’t say something like “I never implied that” in your reply, you didn’t have to actually say it. It’s just that straight after mentioning I have that characteristic you start to go on about it being generally linked to a dysfuntional upbringing. So you can understand what I must have been thinking reading that part of your post. So based on all that, I think you’re the one who has behaved in an offensive, nasty manner, not me.

    & Irene I don’t believe you’re glasweigan yourself btw. I think you’ve just been looking for some excuse to blow up a big argument here.

    Yes Irene, & I ask you to stop being so offensive about Speidi most of the time on here. But would you ever do that for me? No. So shut up & stop replying to my flippin’ posts as I told you to on another profile!

    Oh & btw Irene, considering Sam is scottish himself, do you really think he would make up some random nonsense about general glasweigan traits he’s seen when touring other areas in his home country? I don’t think so, you idiotic loser.

    Think Sam is coming across as a very kind and caring individual . Thought it was awful that Paula nominated him fro not asking her all about herself. Does he need to??? Like many empty vessels that we all have inflicted upon us she can ramble on and on and on about total tripe until the cows come home. Even when no-one at all is in the tiniest bit interested. These airheads just cannot take a hint .

    @Irene I know Paula is a funny one isn’t she! !! Sam would not even get a word in she’s a bit of a drama queen what do you think?

    Think she is a bit unhinged actually and this is not the place for her at all. Simon Cowell does seem to have very odd taste in women. Who is your favourite at the moment? Oh and both Paula and Jasmine Leonard resemble Cowells mother a bit

    @Sarah-Jane Sam isn’t the brightest Crayon in the box. You may not want to go back to Sam as your source of information, you know. Nothing about what you’ve said is an inherent character trait. Just something that is stereotypically attached to a certain group of people.

    I was really liking Ryan until he started defending the gruesome twosome over their bizarre neurotic behaviour. They really are too offensive for words. More than enough nutters in there this year don’t you think. Anyone sane is probably running for cover.Loving Razor . He is so funny and so well integrated and I would think is a very good friend to have in life. F.@tara
