Ashley McKenzie is an Olympic Judo athlete and competed at the London 2012 Olympics.
Ashley became involved in Judo at the age of 11. His mum introduced him to the sport after he had an altercation with someone over Pokémon cards.
Ashley was ejected from his first primary school in Queen’s Park and went to a special needs school, where he was diagnosed with ADHD and OCD.
At the age of 14, Ashley oscillated between being the star of the youth team and being its liability. There was never any doubt over his talent, and he has proven himself many times, winning bronze at the European junior championships, and now gold at the senior British Open for three years running.
He has also spent time in a young offenders’ institution, and was banned from the sport for one month, then three months, then six months, for drinking and fighting.
Since taking up Judo, Ashley has held the junior number one ranking for his weight category, won bronze at the European Junior Championships and earned Senior British Open gold.
Ashley was a hopeful at the London Olympics but 23-year-old was knocked out in the first round of the men’s -60kg category, losing to eventual silver-medallist Hiroaki Hiraoka.
Ashley is proud that judo has changed his life for the better: “I wasn’t the greatest of kids, I was always fighting. Now I’m calm, more mellow and look where it’s got me.”

The other day when he was talking two rhian he said two her that it is fine for tywo people too sleep in a single bed together and just be friends… Then when he was talking two everyone outside he said if she doesn’t like me why does she sleep in a single bed with me, friends don’t do that kind of thing.. Toofaced he is don’t like him one bit. She’s got a boyfriend so why does he not leave her alone he’s a little boy the way his acting..
:straight: tara i believe you what he said to Rhian then to everyone else he just wants to be popular. I bet he’s got a game plan or he has planned one in the house. And that biography I still hardly know who he is! Also I think he is trying to make Rhian look bad.

Grow up you silly little boy. You can’t get your own way all the time. Can’t stand Rhian(WHO IS SHE!!!) but she should have told him to jog on long ago and not been scared of being nominated by him. She is a tease, but he has forced himself on her

Ashley, you have had a lucky escape. Good luck, you are one of the nicest housemates. I admire you and you are definitely better off without people like Rhian.
Hope this boy is proud of himself. Don’t care much for Rhian but her life was made very uncomfortable by him and his gang.She was tarred with the same brush as Danica but was a complete novice by comparison. Ashleigh was suffering from a bruised ego nothing more.

I always wondered why we don’t see too much of him… after watching the live feed last night, I think I figured it out. There must be something in the name… he’s got as foul a mouth as Ashleigh from last series, or worse. He couldn’t get one sentence out without at least one ‘F’ word in it.

Sheep. Should have had the guts to speak out against his ‘bros’ treating women in the house like shit. He also tried to pressurise Rhian into doing things with him after she said she didn’t want anything with him. Really disgusted with the bully-ish character he displayed.

Yeah, I think I felt the same way when his name was called. He is a kind hearted, sweet guy overall. He was just terrible at dealing with the fact Rhian didn’t immediately think about having a romance with him. :down: That’s the part of him I really could not stand watching at all, but over the past week, I’ve seen his adorable, nice side 😀
