CBS has renewed Big Brother USA for two more years, keeping it on air until 2018, it has been confirmed.

Bosses announced the news at the TCA’s summer press tour today, a week after confirming rumours that an additional season will exclusively be screened on streaming service CBS All Access this fall.

The broadcaster has specified that the nineteenth season of BBUSA will air on CBS in summer 2017, followed by the twentieth season in summer 2018.

This confirms that the CBS All Access season is not the official nineteenth season of the show, suggesting that bosses are treating it as a separate series to the main franchise. It has been referred to in press materials as a ‘digital edition’.

Big Brother has been a summer staple on CBS since 2000. The network boasts that the current eighteenth season’s three weekly broadcasts have consistently ranked among the top 5 programmes in the key 18-34 demographic.

BB18 USA will end with a 90-minute finale on September 21st, with the CBS All Access digital edition expected to begin just days afterwards.
