The Big Brother house is located in Elstree Studios, Hertfordshire, where it has been since 2002.

For the first time ever in a Celebrity series of Big Brother, this year’s house has been given a brand new look. Previous series have used the same house from the preceding main summer series with some modifications.

It has been designed with the series catchphrase ‘Hell Lies In Others’ in mind. The majority of the decor is old-fashioned, with notable exceptions in the bedroom and kitchen.

Flames adorn the Diary Room door, while the room itself is decorated in a fairground style with a waltzer-shaped chair.

Executive producer Shirley Jones said: “The famous line from Dante’s Inferno is ‘Abandon hope all ye who enter here’, which has inspired much of what we have done, particularly the entrance which is dark and cavernous with flaming walls.”

“Whilst it might look hellish to some, sometimes your actual hell is the people you’re with, so we have removed some of the doors to make it more open plan. There are very few areas to go to if someone needs to grab five minutes of peace and quiet.”
