Celebrity Big Brother bosses are said to be seeking ‘classier’ housemates for the supposedly all-female January 2018 series – but Baroness Michelle Mone has reportedly turned down a £350,000 offer from Channel 5.

Recently it was claimed the show’s upcoming 21st run could feature exclusively female contestants to mark 100 years since women won the right to vote.

As part of this twist, producers are apparently keen to avoid casting model and reality star types in favour of ‘classier’ celebrities.

One name they apparently wanted was Baroness Mone, with The Sun claiming the entrepreneur was offered £350,000, one of the largest fees ever, to take part.

Best known for founding the Ultimo lingerie brand, Mone was awarded a CBE in the 2010 New Year Honours, before becoming a Conservative peer in 2015.

However, although she’s said to be a fan of CBB, Mone has apparently turned down the opportunity, as she’d rather take part in BBC hits Dragon’s Den and Strictly Come Dancing.

“Producers told Michelle how keen they were to get her on next year’s show,” the newspaper’s source claimed. “They offered a lot of money to start with and kept increasing their offer. But Michelle has told them it’s a firm no.

“While she loves watching CBB, she doesn’t think the House of Lords would be overly impressed with her going into the other house. It doesn’t exactly scream serious businesswoman and peer.

“She has always said she would happily go on Dragons’ Den if that opportunity arose and she quite fancies having a go at Strictly next year.”

Rumours for the new series are currently scarce, but former X Factor contestant Honey G recently said she rejected “a lot of money” to become a housemate.
