Celebrity Big Brother 2018 bosses have announced that a back door eviction will take place this weekend, with the result determined not by a public vote, but a ‘battle of the sexes’.

Throughout the current ‘Year of the Woman’ series, housemates have been competing to earn various different types of ‘power’. The latest winners earlier this week were Ann Widdecombe and Daniel O’Reilly, who used their power to save Daniel from eviction and nominate Maggie Oliver in his place.

Now the two sides of the house are set to compete for the ultimate prize: the power to evict a housemate.

At the end of tonight’s live double eviction, which saw Rachel Johnson and Maggie get their marching orders, presenter Emma Willis announced that a back door eviction will take place in the house imminently, before confirming further details on spin-off show Bit On The Side.

This weekend, the housemates will be separated by gender again, with the men and the women each nominating the two housemates of the opposite sex that they wish to face eviction.

The rival sides will then compete against each other in a task, and the winners will then choose one of their two nominees to leave the house for good.

An exact schedule has yet to be confirmed, but Rylan Clark-Neal said Monday’s BOTS will feature “all the fallout” from the twist, suggesting the result will be revealed in Monday’s highlights show.

With the first three evictees having been female, the men now outnumber the women eight to five. It is unclear how this will be addressed in the task.

Back door evictions are unpopular as they deny the housemate involved the full experience of leaving during a live show, and results are kept secret until a day after they take place. This particular eviction is likely to anger viewers further due to the lack of a public vote.

However, fans had expected a drastic twist as there are thirteen housemates remaining, with only three more live eviction nights scheduled before the final.

The first midweek live eviction of the series will take place on Tuesday, while bosses have confirmed another double eviction for Friday.
