Celebrity Big Brother 2018: Year Of The Woman housemate John Barnes

Celebrity Big Brother 2018 bosses have confirmed that the male housemates will join the ‘Year Of The Woman’ series on Friday – with footballing legend John Barnes among the new arrivals.

The Channel 5 show’s new series began tonight with only female housemates, in a twist marking the centenary of women’s suffrage in the United Kingdom.

The ladies will live in the house by themselves for the first few days, but since the twist was announced in December, bosses have made clear that men would join them at a later stage.

During the live launch show, presenter Emma Willis finally announced that the men will be unveiled on Friday.

Their arrivals will come during a two-part live special named ‘Celebrity Big Brother: Full House Live‘, which was first announced last month, although without any details about what it would feature.

It is currently unknown how many male housemates there will be, but bosses have taken the unusual step of confirming the identity of one of them in advance.

At the end of spin-off show Bit On The Side last night, host Rylan Clark-Neal announced that one of the men entering on Friday is footballer John Barnes.

A popular figure of the sport, Barnes is known for his stints at Watford FC and Liverpool FC, as well as playing for England between 1983 and 1995.

He also famously performed the rap on New Order’s #1 hit ‘World In Motion’, which supported England’s campaign in the 1990 FIFA World Cup.

The men will arrive in the CBB house at a disadvantage, as a twist means they are banned from nominating for the first eviction. In addition, they are more likely to be nominated, as the women are able to win ‘immunity passes’.

However, Emma has said that the mean will be able to “steal” power back throughout the series.

Celebrity Big Brother: Full House Live airs on Friday at 9.00pm and 10.30pm on Channel 5 and 3e.
