Celebrity Big Brother summer 2015 UK vs. USA

Channel 5 has unexpectedly released a breakdown of voting percentages for the Celebrity Big Brother summer 2015 UK vs. USA final, revealing that James Hill won with 45.16% of the overall vote.

After Natasha Hamilton left in third place during tonight’s live final show, host Emma Willis stated that less than 2% of the vote separated James and runner-up Austin Armacost.

Since then, C5 bosses have issued details for all six finalists – with James securing a 45.16% share of the vote, while Austin had 33.83%, suggesting that this announcement may have triggered a last-minute surge of support for the former Apprentice star.

According to a press release from the broadcaster, the “percentages cast for each of the finalists at the close of each vote tonight” was as follows:

  • James: 45.16%
  • Austin: 33.83%
  • Natasha: 12.57%
  • Bobby: 5.09%
  • Chloe Jasmine and Stevi: 1.82%
  • Sherrie: 1.54%

These are the first percentages to be released during Channel 5’s era of Big Brother since the thirteenth civilian series in 2012, when the figures for every public vote were revealed on a post-finale episode of spin-off show Bit On The Side.

However, bosses did take the unusual step of revealing the exact numbers of votes separating the finalists during last summer’s Power Trip finale in a lengthy statement denying claims that Helen Wood’s win was fixed.

Before anyone starts thinking Emma was lying, the percentage split between James and Austin clearly went from 52/48 (2% difference) to about 57/43 (7% difference). So James increased his lead by about 5% in the final 5 minutes.

It’s just when you release the figures in the way Channel 5 have done, it looks like it must have gone from 2% to 11%. It didn’t.
