Nicknamed the ‘Naughty Nolan’ due to her risqué photo shoots, Linda Nolan has been singing since the age of 4 when she hit stardom with her sisters in the family act, The Nolans.

In 1974, The Nolans made their television debut on Cliff Richard’s TV show, singing “Stuck on You”. Their chart breakthrough came in 1978 with the covers album 20 Giant Hits on Target, which reached No.3 in the UK. That year, they also supported Engelbert Humperdinck on a US tour.

At the end of 1979, the group released the disco-flavoured single “I’m in the Mood for Dancing”, which became their biggest hit. It reached number 3 in the UK, number 2 in Ireland and number 1 in Japan, a rare event for a Western act; the single eventually sold more than 600,000 copies in Japan.

An acting career then followed with West End appearances in Blood Brothers, playing the star role of Mrs Johnstone. This followed on from her part as Prudie Cupp in the musical ‘Pump Boys and Dinettes’, and as The Governor in ‘Prisoner Cell Block H – The Musical’ starring Paul O’Grady (as Lily Savage).

Linda is also in the Guinness Book of Records (2007) along with her sisters Bernie, Denise and Maureen as all four siblings have played the lead role for producer Bill Kenwright in Blood Brothers in The West End.

In January 2006, Linda was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. “It was a terrible blow because Brian had recently been diagnosed with skin cancer,” reveals Linda. On February 21st 2006, two days before her 48th birthday, Linda underwent a partial mastectomy to remove the four-inch tumour and 11 cancerous lymph nodes. She then endured intensive chemotherapy.

Linda revealed that her sister Bernie’s death brought an end to the rift that divided the famous sisters. “We’re all fine now,” the singer said. “We’re back going to Bingo together. We’ve got our Sunday nights sorted. But when Bernie was taken ill everything fell into perspective. We were saying ‘I’ve missed you and now we need you.”

    :up: Yes there is a god after all, the sour faced old bag and nag leaves the house , now we can enjoy the house . First time up for eviction and she’s out. If she had been up before she would have been out before now. It took this long for housemates to relise what a two faced old bag she is . Yeepee. God bye to bad rubbish .

    She is such a vile, disgusting and bitter woman, I am not a fan of Jim but she constantly picked fault with him, he couldn’t do right for doing wrong. And she couldn’t keep her trap shut and be dignified In the interview, constantly talking over the lovely Emma. Give it up sweetheart and fade gracefully back into the obscurity from whence you crawled!

    Linda could not think what to say when she was evicted to try and cover up her nastiness in the house. Louisa told her what to say and she kept repeating it parrot style, how she was true to herself and how only 46 mins was shown and how jim caused arguments. The only problem was no=one believed her as she was out the house and was still full of bitterness against JIM. iF I was Jim, i would watch my back.
    She then proceeded to point out on bit on the side BB, that it was not shown the illness of Amy, so that was supposed to prove her point that Jim.s vendetta against her was not shown.
    She was ecstatic when the resident”pschoanalyst agreed how lovely Linda was and how false and calculating Jim is! Utter Tosh, if i was Coleen Nolan i would stop trying to defend her and book her into rehab for bitter old nasty cows A.S.A.P , and make it a double ticket, give us all a break from the wisdom of the Nolans = more like the Nobodies.

    @margar ayr Some Very Good points there margar ayr & jonny, but please be careful Viewers like Lanky may take exception to you words & try to get you banned as they have me, It so sad that so-called Celebs come on this show & are allowed to mouth off every foul comment they can think of & when a Viewer like me mentions that every one that ( Thinks ?) This is the best ever series, Maybe an Airhead & that just Maybe the Figures are being messed with, Not for the 1st Time mind you ? They are then Reported, that is the Real joke, & I guess that is Entertainment for you! If CH5 are allowed to get away with it that is ? :down: 😯

    This post is really old I know, but how many of you are considering looking at all the bad things from Linda’s view and listening to what outsiders are saying what really happened. All too quick to judge. Ever consider Linda’s feelings? She’s not long lost her sister! Get to know a person before you judge them! There’s always something behind closed doors and who are we to judge someone by how they’re perceived on TV. Not everyone is who they seem and Linda is really lovely

    @Ren Ren, Its not nice to loose a loved one at any time, but calling for Sympathy is not the answer by trying to excuse vindictive behaviour, that has been going on for many years & shows no sign of getting any better ?

    @Wally !
    It’s never nice to lose anybody, no matter who it is and how they’re in your life. Who said anything about calling for sympathy?! We don’t know the facts of their past, as I said there’s always something behind closed doors. Whatever there is we don’t know, who cares when it’s their lives and as if anything is ever going to be posted publicly when it has nothing to do with us.

    @Ren Quote”She not long lost Her sister” Unquote! Every time Linda Nolan comes on to our screens, its never that long before the subject is brought in to it, as sad as that maybe! Also”When its got nothing to do with us”! Linda Nolan came in to the house with the full Intention of ( Right or Wrong?) having a go at Jim Davidson. This brings the whole mess into the Public Domain? She Invited Us, to choose between Her View or JDs? You or Linda Nolan can’t complain If people saw through the whole scheme, as humans we all make up our own minds & Linda Nolan had that choice when She chose to do battle on TV? If you live by the sword you die by the sword! No doubt Linda will get the chance to live Her version of events on TV yet again on another programme, But thats Her Choice, the Public just like You & I have ours ! Sorted. 😉
