The recently revived Big Brother Australia will return for its milestone tenth series next year, its broadcaster Channel Nine has confirmed.

Nine begun airing a new television advert for its 2013 line-up including the show this week, and is expected to make an official announcement next week at their annual ‘Upfronts’ event.

They first picked up the Aussie rights to Big Brother last November, three years after its original home Network Ten decided to drop the axe following an eight-year run due to falling viewing figures.

It finally returned to screens in August, having heavily borrowed features and ideas from BBUK. The ninth series was a modest ratings success, ending earlier this month with 32-year-old Benjamin Norris becoming the country’s first ever gay Big Brother winner.

However, Nine attracted criticism from long-term fans for its ‘family friendly’ ethos – which resulted in sanitised highlights shows – and following Channel 5′s lead by ditching live feed.

This is amazing news! I loved BBAU9, even the family friendly edits. Overall it matched the epicness that was the Deana BB13UK run for me personally.

I loved the Nominations chamber and the 5 point system. Hope it makes a grand return and somehow implemented into the UK version as well next summer.

BBAU9 was the best ever Big Brother series I’ve seen in all the countries together!
