Rylan X Factor exits approved before CBB begun

Emma Willis - Big Brother's Bit On The Side

The producers of Celebrity Big Brother 2013 have admitted that Rylan Clark’s X Factor rehearsals were approved as part of his contract.

Last night’s edition of spin-off show Bit On The Side addressed the news that the 23-year-old had been allowed out of the house, revealing that he had been allowed out for a ‘couple of hours’ on a Friday and a Sunday.

A statement from ‘Channel 5 execs’ read: “It was agreed before Rylan entered the Big Brother house that he would be allowed to rehearse for his tour twice on-site with a choreographer.

“This was agreed on the strict understanding that he was not allowed to discuss events in the Big Brother House with anyone during such rehearsal periods. Rylan was escorted by a senior Big Brother producer at all times during rehearsals to ensure full compliance.”

Presenters Jamie East and Emma Willis proceeded to further defend Rylan’s exits, which contravene one of the most fundamental Big Brother rules stating that contestants should be locked up 24 hours a day with no contact to the outside world.

East reasoned: “I don’t want people to think that we don’t read your comments or take them seriously. We do, and we understand your frustrations with this.

“But the X Factor tour starts on Saturday. If Rylan were to stay in until finale he would have had no rehearsal time. He’s due on stage 12, 13, 14 hours after the finale finishes.”

Willis added: “If you want people like that in the house to bring a good show then there has to be some kind of compromise and if a few hours of rehearsal time is what it is then that’s sometimes what you have to do.”

Fans have reacted furiously to the revelations, accusing bosses of misleading viewers.

It is the first time in Big Brother UK’s twelve-year history that a housemate is known to have been allowed out of the house to complete work obligations.

Getting top celebrities is great for us viewers – but as long as the credibility is maintained.

This was pre-approved not a medical emergency or urgent family matter – this was for a known publicly supported HM to get preferential treatment. Regardless of where it was or frequency it was concealed from the viewing public until a “slip of the tongue” forced Channel 5 to come out with a statement.

So why did they conceal it if they thought it was not relevant?

The Fact they allowed this shoes it was more about the money in this case by bring in a recent publicly supported “celeb” hoping that the interest in him would continue not just for viewing figures but the vote to save / win income!!

Whilst outside the house – who knows what happened, however mentally he was given a break to get on with his “day job” not confined to the house which all others had to endure so he has had an advantage no matter which way it has been looked at.

How does I’m a Celebrity manage with its celebs – are they going to allow them a bit of time off, break from camp, good feed etc??

Currently on BBC1 there is a version of American Apprentice – where Donald Trump is quite harsh despite it being for charity – despite a family problem with Michael Johnson he was told you go, don’t come back as unfair on team mates.

If your playing a game – all should have to play within the same framework of that game – Big Brother on this occasion didn’t just change the rules, they have broken the fundamental principals that BB was built upon, and to top it Channel 5 thought they could dupe us with more careful edits and by silencing its celebs.

Do I care if Rylan has X Factor tour duties – NO. I am, and have always been a huge fan on Big Brother, I care more about the fact that Rylan has been given special treatment even before Day 1 and that was hidden from me as a fan.

I am 100% positive that despite Rylan being quite funny if he could not commit fully to the fundamental principal of BB, then there would have been many other Celebs that could have taken his place (remember Razor was a quick replacement).

Now that this has been permitted it has set a precedent – what next? To Capture a Celeb next time, what lengths will Channel 5 go to?

    Very Disappointing

I truly hope this hurts his chance of winning. Sad that Emma and Jamie would defend this crap, but what else can we expect from them since im sure they are both desperate for that job.

On the bright side, BOTS has begun to show its age and no longer interests me as a loyal fan, and addict of BB. I just download and FF to the news if i’m just dying to know whats going on, otherwise i just skip it all together.

I cant believe emma would try to justify it all by saying ‘if we want such people in the house’, lmfao speak for yourself hunny cause I dont want him in there and Im sure you can find better Z-Listers who would gladly take his place that are less starved for attention.

RE: You can fin better Z-Listers

just to add I’m sure So Solid Crew, Loose Women, Coraniation street or Page 3 would gladly let you borrow another cast member since producers seem to have had that as a prerequisite these past few years.

All I can say is thank goodness Rylan has been in the CBB house. the other celebs have been so garded, in fact in the first 10days there was no point in having Clair Tricia or Gillian in the house.
Speidi hid under the bed clothes half of the time were rude in not going up to meet the other housemate also refusing to do the drain task. Had it not been for Razor Frankie Ryan and Rylan the show would not have got off the ground. So BB have broken their own rules surly that is their purgative I think thay should have been open about it, but they run the show not us.

Lacey seemingly confirming that housemates were supposed to keep it secret in a brief interview on Digital Spy, where she basically is too scared to comment on it.

 What i don’t understand is all the house mates seem to be getting on very well and starting to have fun, Clair and Rylan are funny when they spend time together, plus Razor is topman. I can also respect all for supporting Clar on the letter issue, and for me Spyhdie are spoilng the program, they are horrible boring couple that do not belong on this program, kick them out for not taking any part in the game, all they are there for is to blow their own trumpet, they don’t respect anyone or anything, they are the nobodies and they are pointless people. At least the others what ever status as Z listers or have beens respect and are gratefull for having the opertunity in being on BB.

I agree with most of the comments. Why does everyone think that if Rylan hadn’t been on the show it wouldn’t have been worth watching? What exactly does he do except prance about and whinge all the time? Even on X factor he didn’t entertain me. He has yet to make me laugh. None of the others have had chance to shine. Who knows what we might have seen if everyone else had been encouraged with more games and tasks. And lets face it without H&S he would have had even less screen time. And yestereday when Trisha wanted to front Speidi she got stopped by Rylan!!! Maybe he was scared she was going to steal his thunder by confronting their behaviour? As for Rylan being given special privilages – what a con that has been for the viewers. Would we have been told the truth if someone hadn’t let it slip? If it wasn’t a secret why weren’t the viewing public told when he went in?
