Comedian Jim Davidson will make an appearance in Celebrity Big Brother 2013 after all despite having been dropped from the launch line-up after his arrest, it has been reported.
The 59-year-old was due to enter the house on Thursday night, until he was detained by police working for Operation Yewtree, the investigation in to Jimmy Savile’s alleged underage sex abuse.
Davidson was later bailed to return for further questioning in March, as his solicitor stated that he staunchly denies the allegations against him, which are not directly connected to Savile.
Following discussions with Channel 5 bosses, it was decided that Davidson would not become a housemate, with Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock believed to have taken his place. One insider told The Mirror: “Everyone has agreed that it’s for the best.”
However, The Daily Star today claims that Davidson might yet join the show, after discussions with his legal team prompted him to change his mind.
A source commented: “Jim is still in shock but hasn’t done anything wrong and is determined to hold his head up high. He has vowed to clear his name.”
There are said to be no legal issues preventing him from taking part, but the paper did not suggest whether he would become a full-time housemate, or just appear as a guest.
