The Cheeky Girls for Big Brother 2017 pairs twist?
‘Touch My Bum’ singers The Cheeky Girls are reportedly in talks to take part in Big Brother 2017 as part of a rumoured pairs twist.
This summer’s eighteenth ‘civilian’ series of the show is widely expected to feature a twist involving joint housemates after wannabe contestants were only permitted to apply in pairs.
And according to The Sun, The Cheeky Girls – who shot to fame on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 – could be among the duos entering the house.
The newspaper claims the Romanian twins, real names Gabriela and Monica Irimia, are in “advanced talks” with Channel 5 about the show.
“There is massive interest in the girls and they know how much the nation love them,” a source said. “Show bosses think this could be the best year yet and the pairs theme is already shaping up nicely.
“Gabriela and Monica have never done Big Brother — they’ve been waiting for the right moment.”
However, the their involvement could cause controversy among die-hard Big Brother fans, as they easily qualify for the Celebrity version of the show.
After being rejected by the ITV talent contest, Monica and Gabriela released their debut single ‘Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)’, which was based on their famous audition song. It charted at number 2 in the UK, and has reportedly sold over 1.2million copies worldwide.
The sisters went on to release three further top 10 singles, while their debut album ‘Partytime’ also charted at number 14.
They have since made appearances on shows such as Coach Trip, Hole In The Wall, Snog Marry Avoid? and Pointless Celebrities.
Big Brother is expected to return to C5 in early June.
