Big Brother 2017 - Savannah O'Reilly fourth evicted

Big Brother 2017’s fourth evictee Savannah O’Reilly gives her take on the show’s twists and tantrums in an exclusive chat with bbspy!

Savannah’s Big Brother journey began when was chosen to enter the house by Chanelle, Lotan and Kieran in a Blind Date-style task. She instantly caught the attention of the boys – with Kieran even opting to take her on a BB date over his real-life ex, Isabelle!

The Irish singer arrived as a ‘divide’ formed between the two groups, but she quickly escaped the drama: just nine days in to her stay, viewers evicted her, after a twist saw early voting results revealed for the first time ever – and her share almost tripled from 12.97% to 36.32%.

Before another housemate gets the heave-ho in tonight’s fifth boot-out, bbspy had a natter with Savannah about her Big Brother experience.

Big Brother 2017 housemates - Savannah O'Reilly

Hello Savannah! As it says in your Big Brother bio, you’re a jet-setter, splitting your time between London, LA and Dublin. As someone who travels the world, how did you find being locked up in the BB house 24 hours a day?
I thought it would be a challenge to be removed from the world. My career choice means I have a lot of control over what I do and where I go, so giving up that control was a massive battle in my head. Once I was in there I just tried to embrace being removed from the world and enjoy getting to know people and their stories.

You arrived as part of the Blind Date-style dating task. Once you had sized up your competition, how confident were you that you’d make it in to the house?
Well, I wasn’t very confident if I’m honest. I had only prepared myself to go into the house for a few days, so I didn’t really think about it. When I met Isabelle and realised she knew Sam and Kieran I didn’t think I had a chance of getting into the house.

This series featured one of the most intense Big Brother arguments ever, dubbed ‘Fight Night 3’ by fans. What were your thoughts on that from an insider’s perspective – did you think the punishments were fair?
I felt there was a lot of people at fault that night. Certain people knew how to push people’s’ buttons and certain triggers that would set people off. I trust that Big Brother gave the punishments people deserved, however being in there I felt more people should have been punished.

You left under unusual circumstances: for the first time, Big Brother revealed voting results while lines were open. Fans then targeted you in a campaign to save Isabelle. Did that made your eviction easier or harder to take?
To be honest, I hadn’t really thought about it.

Do you think you’d still be in the house if Big Brother had kept the voting figures secret?
I think I would still have been in the house. However, I was close to walking and I wouldn’t have lasted another week, so I’m glad it worked out the way it did.

Moments after your exit, the four ‘Second Chance’ housemates arrived – and they’re playing a separate game, with the one who last longest taking home £15,000 of the winner’s prize fund. What do you make of that twist?
I feel it encourages the Second Chance housemates to be as outrageous as possible and stir things up as best they can. They don’t need to make friends in there as they are not competing against the main housemates.

This week, housemates got the chance to discuss nominations in ‘The Void’. Which two would you have nominated this week?
I would have nominated Hannah and Raph.

Charlotte, Joe and Tom are facing the next eviction – who do you want to leave?
None of them, they were so nice and welcoming to me from day one.

Have you watched any of your time in the house back, and if so, has it changed your opinions of any of the housemates?
I’ve only watched my eviction interview back, as I’ve decided to just leave the memories I have from being in there.

Finally, if you were Big Brother, what would you do to shake up the house?
A task were some of the money is offered to steal from the prize fund.

Big Brother airs nightly on Channel 5 and 3e
