Did The Others Annihilate their Best Twist competition? Can anyone beat Tiffany Pollard to Best Female? It’s time to find out as we reveal the UK results of the bbspy Big Brother Awards 2016!

Previously we revealed the results of our International categories, and it was good news for Big Brother Canada: Arisa Cox claimed her first Best Host win and wildcards Nikki Grahame and Tim Dormer were named Best Housemates.

Now, without further ado, here are the best (and worst) bits of last year from back here in Blighty…

Best Production Decision

Big Brother 2016 - Emma Jensen ejected from the house

Winner: Finally ejecting housemates for breaking out (Big Brother 17, 29.07%)

2nd: House extension/new outdoor set (BB17, 20.09%)
3rd: The Big Brother 17 cast (18.85%)
4th: Increase in normal nominations (12.07%)
5th: Ending The Others twist early (11.89%)

bbspy says: Poor Channel 5 and Endemol – thousands of pounds invested in to the biggest overhaul of the Big Brother house in well over a decade, and it’s beaten to Best Production Decision by something that shouldn’t even need to be nominated.

Nonetheless, 2016 was the year the producers finally grew tired of housemates running amok and booted one of them for breaching the confines of the house.

It’s infuriating for BB die-hards to see such disregard of the ‘no contact with the outside world’ rule, even if it’s on the verge of becoming extinct.

The thing is, now the producers have set a precedent (break out twice and you’re gone), they need to stick to it – for both Celebrity and civilian housemates – otherwise Emma Jensen’s ejection was unjust.

Anyway, back to the house extension: a major change to the Elstree compound was needed, but an extension was beyond any BB fan’s wildest dream, so major kudos to C5 for making it happen.

Fingers crossed the main part of the building is shown some love this year, as the layout is getting boring – the garden’s been pretty much the same since 2013.

Don’t forget that the first civilian series on Channel 5 was also 64 days long!
