Channel 5 has agreed a product placement deal with Microsoft for Big Brother 2014: Power Trip that will involve housemates making their nominations on Surface tablets, it’s reported.

The group will also complete its weekly shopping lists on the computer company’s flagship mobile devices as part of its arrangement with the broadcaster, according to MediaWeek.

Further details about how the tablet nominations will work have yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, Old Jamaica will promote its new ‘Ginger Beer Light’ drink on the show – while L’Oreal, Aquafresh, Ribena and MaxiNutrition have also renewed their existing deals.

Laurence Jones, commercial director of Big Brother’s production company Endemol UK, commented: “Our relationship with Channel 5 goes from strength to strength. Over the coming months, ‘Big Brother’ and ‘Big Brother’s Bit On The Side’ will have an extensive presence across all Channel 5 platforms.”

Previously it was announced that will remain as Big Brother’s headline sponsor.

Microsoft’s involvement ties in with the technology theme of this year’s series, which has seen bosses install a whopping 27 screens across every area of the house.

Yesterday, bbspy was given an exclusive tour of the brand new Big Brother house, revealing that a Surface tablet has been mounted on the wall by the kitchen.

Official photos of the futuristic abode were released on Monday, while the Diary Room was unveiled yesterday, featuring a floor-to-ceiling chair highlighted by LED lights.

Big Brother: Power Trip begins on Channel 5 tonight at 9.00pm.

All these promotions, soon Big Brother will be one big advert with 13 people in these adverts :( BB should get the axe before it’s too late! GET BB OUT! GET BB OUT!

So they’re going to endorse Microsoft devices when currently their app only allows iOS users to interact with the show? Windows users haven’t been considered, but then again neither have users of the biggest mobile platform in terms of market share, Android.

Poor effort, and the SuperCasino sponsorship is beyond tacky. It’s only a matter of time before they’re letting the housemates sneak out into the outside world, or given that the theme is technology, they’ll probably let them go online.

 They are ignoring me & other Windows customers  Yes Sam Proctor, there should be NO contact with the outside world, that was the whole concept of the BB experiment.
