“Cheeky, resourceful and tactile” ladies’ man Pav comes from an affluent background and has a traditional Sikh family. He is keen to educate the world on Sikhism and “show them that Sikhs are liberal loving people who know how to have fun”.

Pav says he has come from a ‘good, honest and hardworking background’ and has been taught to respect everyone, “stand my ground, protect my religion and always stand up for myself”.

Due to his beliefs, Pav has never cut his hair and has always worn a full turban when out socially. Although he has traditional values, his beliefs are modern and he “won’t have an arranged marriage, but will marry someone I love and care for no matter what religion they are”.

Pav works for his family’s property business, where he is equal partners with his dad and uncle. He describes it as his dream job but feels he needs a “fit secretary who doesn’t mind a quickie in the photo-copy room”. He also lives with his family, but he wouldn’t have it any other way: “we’re one big team, and my family mean everything to me”.

He is recently single; his ex was his best friend from university, but they split up because they felt better off as friends. Pav likes girls that are short, fun and fit, and he admits to being shallow: “looks are important to me and a strong fashion sense”.

He’s not looking for love in the house but if he’s interested in someone he won’t hide his feelings and will try it on. He says: “put a few hot girls the house please, you can’t w**k over a personality”.

Pav gets on well with fun, level-headed people. He calls himself a prankster and says he is always causing mischief; in the house, he reckons he’ll get on particularly well with Mark as the Scouser is always looking for fun. Pav is 100% certain that he will win Big Brother because he’s genuine and he will be ‘doing it for the Sikhs’.

Pav hasn’t made a lasting impression on the first week he should have been more adamant with getting Steven out and simply didn’t. Zoe seems to be playing it safe knowing Danielle’s departure won’t rock the house as much as if someone else was to go. I wouldn’t be surprised if she wins, she is playing a very clever game and clearly knows how to behave on Tv.

As a community we can be quite unfair and uncompromising towards an individual in this situation, who at least on the face of it is appearing on television (or any other national medium) based on their own merits. It is perhaps all too easy for us to hold that person up as representative of the Sikh community when in many cases they simply happen to be Sikh or of a Sikh background. Sure, as a minority community, a Sikh on a national platform has to accept that an audience will often reflect upon other Sikhs based on what they see through them, but I can empathise with the desire to be considered as an individual with your own faults and talents, and not emblematic of a whole community. However, this doesn’t apply to any individual who has the opportunity of appearing on a national platform simply because they are a Sikh; nor does it apply to anybody who makes the (ill-thought) claim that they in any way represent Sikhs. @Pav Singh

I like pav I think it is unfair to say he is boring he’s not been in there as long as the others so of course he’s not going to have done as much. I like the way he challenged mark over what it was the ex housemates said about him. I think he is being left out at the moment and I find it quite uncomfortable to watch. Hope he stays tomorrow I reckon if he got into a row with Helen he may give her a run for her money!

I think he’s ok, he needs a chance, give him a break. I hope he’s kept in & Steven gets evicted.

I don’t dislike Pav, I hope Steven goes

I just dislike all the comparisons …..yes he was entertaining with the dancing etc..

But if I were to suggest that either Ashleigh or Christopher could educate us on the principles of Catholicism or not then I would be shouted down.

Helen is Catholic for all its worth and she does nothing to advocate that religion. –

Gay ,straight black white or yellow – lets see the housemates for themselves and forget religion, politics and caste.

I can make a judgement for myself on the person I see, so given a choice it would be the abhorrent Helen but tonight its Steven.

@Jane Shepherd I really felt sorry for Pav, and his poor sister tonight.

It’s just my opinion but I think 99% of the way the public AND the housemates have reacted to him is to do with the way he looks.

If he looked like Winston or Ash or a typical TV Essex boy, and came in acting EXACTLY the same way as he has done, saying the same things he has done, doing the same stuff he has done, I don’t think anyone would have a problem with him.

Unfortunately that’s just how shallow I think the reaction to him has been. Such a shame.

Poor Pav first the housemates were being horrible to him and then those boos tonight were awful! Next Helen will go all guns blazing for him she always picks on the vulnerable ones 😥 I actually thought he was very brave to confront the group as to why he wasn’t integrating as much as zoe. Winston was nasty to him aswell.

I like Pav- I don’t think he has really been given a chance! I think the people in there are looking to target someone so the attention if negativity is not I. Them. Mark is so crafty … He needs to go as he bitches and moans too much. I think most of the housemates have not really had interaction from an Asian Sikh male like Pav or similar, I think they are just judging Pav on how he looks which is very sad to do that. Pav needs the chance to be himself. I’m sure he will be great. Pav to win. His sister seemed v nice and good on her for backing up her younger brother.

He’s so much better then zoe in my opinion. I did like zoe before tonight when she was saying to arrogant Ash that she was glad she ‘was in there with people who had jobs like hers because she couldn’t be in there with people who had normal jobs as they wouldn’t be on her wavelength.

    I don’t get why he’s getting all those boo’s?
I know he’s not done much up to just but I don’t see that he’s done anything that merits the boo’ either.
could it be that the audience are being orchestrated into letting the HMs know who the producers want nominating next week?

I like Pav. He seems really sweet and he actually tried to ask what the problem was in a forthright honest and passive manner. He seems to me to be trying to be liked a bit like Christopher at the start and I hope it turns round for him. He didn’t deserve those boos. An odd vibe ATM on this years bb not from viewers but from housemates, a lot of the problems involving people who don’t fit into certain stereotypical groups. A bit sad to see in this day and age.

Not sure why Pav is so disliked hes done nothing, hes rather boring but he hasnt done anything offensive, not like some in the house

@Keithy People don’t like him because he doesn’t look like an extra from Hollyoakes.

    It’s as simple as that.

I think with Pav being one of the new housemates it is harder for him. The evicted housemates out of spite said Pav was one to watch and he has a game plan. Pav has done nothing wrong and should be given a fair chance but Big Brother this year has not been fair at all Helen has been promoted and guarded and treated with favouritism- why? YOU DECIDE. Pav seems like a nice guy and no one has mentioned how Zoe has made a remark with classist undertones about people who work in Tesco yet she was not given boos wonder how people will feel when she is up for eviction again? out of the two Pav is the nicest and the most honest

I will definitely be voting for pav to get immunity. I do like Ashleigh and Chris but they don’t need it like pav does. My new faves are pav and Christopher cos he’s been consistently decent and fair to everyone and pav cos I feel sorry for him and everyone loves an underdog. I actually think the boos have been good for him he will be much more popular next week he could even win in my opinion

Yes, same as you  Those 2 are my favs, but what are the odds of Pav getting immunity ? 🙁
Oh what a shock if newbie Pav did win  Ha ha imagine how furious the original hms would be :envy:

I thought is was so sad the way Pav had to hear what the crowd outside thought of him. Would like to know their reasons though, as IMO he has done nothing to warrant the boos at all? He may be quiet, keeping to himself – but when faced with that group of HM’s, who wouldn’t be quiet!
I hope this week it all turns around for him and he gets a positive reception – while Zoe gets the opposite!
