Media watchdog Ofcom has revealed that this summer’s Big Brother topped the list of the most complained television programmes of 2012.

According to the latest stats, 2,088 complaints were recieved about the Channel 5 show, comprising 12.5% of the 16,000 total issues raised by viewers this year.

The vast majority of these concerned Conor McIntyre’s threats of physical and sexual violence towards Deana Uppal, an incident which the regulator ruled was in breach of the broadcasting code last month.

In at second was ITV1’s The X Factor, which sparked accusations of result fixing when judge Louis Walsh was spotted talking to an executive producer just moments before contestant Carolynne Poole’s elimination.

This Morning completed the top three, after the controversial episode in early November which saw Prime Minister David Cameron confronted with a list of alleged paedophiles in the Conservative Party that presenter Philip Schofield said he found during a brief internet search.
