BBAU News
Channel Nine has confirmed that it will bring Big Brother back to Australian screens next year, with Sonia Kruger as presenter.
The broadcaster announced the news at its 2012 programming launch on Wednesday. Further details are yet to be confirmed, although the new series is set to air after the London Olympics ends in August.
It will be the first edition of Big Brother to air in Australia in four years. The show’s original channel Network Ten dropped it in 2008 after eight series due to declining ratings.
Kruger is leaving the Seven Network’s Dancing With The Stars to join Nine, where she will front a daytime talkshow in addition to the Big Brother revival. She replaces Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O.

I think the 4 year break will have served BBAU well. The “Secret” format will change it enough to hook new viewers, and the normal BB crowd will tune in. BBUK/US should follow suit and change up their formats, which are getting SO boring.
Wow I loved the 2012 trailer Aussie TV looks pretty good! I’m looking forward to see the format and I agree – BBUK should really put a different spin on the format for next year.
Endemol though would be wise to hold back the “Secret Story” format though as a back up plan for when C5 axe Big Brother themselves – which by ratings would be next year.
Looking forward to this! I enjoy BBAU and BBUK over BBUS and have been missing BBAU quite a bit. Can’t wait to see what this new “Secret Story” does to improve the show.
