Alex Rose Lee has been announced as the third placed housemate in the final of Big Brother 2011, in another surprise result.

“Well done huns,” she said, congratulating the final two Jay and Aaron after learning her position. She walked out the house to a cheering crowd, while Aqua’s hit single Barbie Girl played in the background.

The 19-year-old McDonalds crew member had been favourite to win the series. Her result mirrors that of August’s Celebrity Big Brother final, in which frontrunners Jedward also came third.

She told Brian Dowling in her interview: “I didn’t know how long I’d actually last, but to be here for the final, it’s just mad. I’ve been a fan of the show since I was like fourteen, and I said I wanna be there, I wanna do it.

“As soon as I was old enough I applied, and I got in, and now I’m here!”

Talking about her relationship with Tom, she said: “Never in a million years would have thought I’d have come in, meet someone and have that kind of strong friendship. As soon as I saw him I was like, aw hun! I was like, straight away, I’ve got to be friends with this guy.”

However, she insisted that there isn’t a romance between them, saying what they share is ‘simply fun’.

Meanwhile, asked about her unlikely friendship with Harry, she replied: :I wouldn’t have thought I would have been able to get on with people so posh, but I did and he’s so down to earth and he’s lovely.”

Alex added that Big Brother has made her more ‘independent’ and she plans to try making her bed again.
